Project Description: To make software installations and hardware updates, Vendor defines an automatic
procedure for the installation of the operating system on a new or updated PC. The goal is to Having a uniform
worldwide installation standard, including a single point of source and change management.
A standardized hardware and software environment is defined worldwide. The hardware vendors are Compaq
and Dell and the supported operating systems are Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
The approach is that any support staff worldwide can setup a GenRe Standard-PC
without the knowledge of any internals. This means also that the installation process has to be available in
every location. To achieve this, Vendor provides a distribution procedure to bring the necessary files (sources,
scripts, programs) to every installation server in the branch locations.
