CHAPTER 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
INTRODUCTION
Student registration system has increased during the recent years not only in education but
also in all areas where resources are managed. Student registration system has always been a
difficult task, but it is more so today than ever before, where administrators uses the traditional
way of filing records on a cabinet. As the population of the students goes up, it is becoming more
complex. Data should be stored in safer places, and can be retrieved easily and fast when
someone needs it. Administrators task has becoming more complex, there have been efforts to
improve the effectiveness of problems solving central to this are quantitative techniques and
electronic devices such as computers. In the field of education, researchers and theorist have
focused intensively on examining the concepts and use of information to assist administrators,
teachers, students and parents.
The emerging needs in most schools for accurate and relevant data and reliable information
strengthen the registration system. As of today information technology is the goal of all
programmers because it will lead to a better and stable life. Information technology is flexible it
has many use, discovering, developing, transforming the world until the technology continue the
importance of system information system. The proponents will guide and satisfy our clients for
students records.
The researchers goal in this project is to develop the current system that they are using and
make their staff easier and will help to reduce paper works. It will make a useful system that can
be used to facilitate the record of the students and will be accessed by the authorized personnel
such as professors, instructors, and school administrator.
This system describes the information and components of computerized system and several
strategies to develop the system .information technology is widely used for faster and easier way
of recording student information.it is also used in managing the operation undertaken by the
school.it is a great help to every school that undergoes with different difficulties within recording
the students information. Almost all school and institution, computers have significant impact in
their work. People rely on computer for efficient and effective way to handle different loads and
tasks.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The Saint John Early Childhood Care and Development School is located at #44 Visayas
Street Zone 5, Signal Village Taguig city. It was established during the second day of June in
year 1986 by the mother in law of maam Victoria. Namely, Mrs Merlita Teves. In year 2000,
Mrs Merlita cannot handle the school anymore due to the other business and also to her
condition, so she decided to give the school to her daughter in law. So at the third day of august
2000, she passed the school to Mrs Victoria Teves which is now the current owner of the school
and also the principle of the school. The school was built not only because of the dream of the
owner but also because of the needs of the citizen in the place. Before, the school was only an
association but as of now, last June 20 2016 the school is now a part of DepEd by the help and
patient of maam victoria in processing the requirements needed.
The school has three registered teachers that handles and take care of all the things in school.
Teacher Maribel handles the preparatory level. Teacher Cristina handles the kinder level while
Teacher Mary Joy handles the nursery level .Each of them holds the files of the students enrolled
in every level and the school has four session a day and thirty (30) students per level or session.
The background of student registration starts from manual management of information like
the result to be provided to the notes board whereas the areas of students to access the result.
This were difficult to the teacher in charge to access the information due to the increase number
of student and the management were moved to computerized the information of the students that
starts with using computer in the computer shop and save it safety drive and in the cabinet, but
still
there are a lot of problems . Not only student but also management increased their
performance due to shifting from manual operation to computerized operations.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

GENERAL PROBLEM:
The general problem of the Saint John Early Childhood Care and Development school is
difficult for the faculty to look for a record of the students. The problem is usually encountered
by the teachers. And the efficient rate of manually mandating a system is widely known due to
the time consumed of manually recording of the transactions being done, security of data is at
risk and inaccuracy of data. The school administrator and the teacher considered the problems
encountered in using manual system.
SPECIFIC PROBLEM:
Time consuming- the record of students information is done manually in such a way that
instructor writes down the details of different information every time a document of
student information that is needed to be edited too much time.
Duplication of records-some records of the students data is not the same with the original
records. And updating students records to the original copy, the duplication record was
not update.
Processing the students payment and records-they are having a hard time to this problem
due to a manually checking the balance of enrolees and requirements of students that are
kept in cabinet.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
The general objectives of this study is the purpose of this student registration system is to
create a value for the company and to overcome the difficulties of the current system which is a
manual system that will change in to computerized student information system. And it also to
create a value of a company and to overcome the difficulties of the current system which is a
manual system that will change in to automated system for the client to easily understand and
access this system.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
To help the teacher in no doubling entries of details or information of the students and to
monitoring the students data. To lessen the time of checking the students data.
To help the teacher accurate encoding of student information and to create a system that
will easily interact with its users thru easy to use interfaces and understandable
transactions.
To have a database that will hold students information to make information be easily
retrieved and to provide security in the system.
SCOPE AND LIMITATION
SCOPE
LOGIN MODULE
The login module is a portal module that allows the teacher in charge to enter a User Name
and password to login. The student registration only allows the teacher to access the
corresponding section that its handles.
STUDENT INFORMATION
The student information is a file that displays all the needed information about the student
who is registered in the school. The student registration also has listed information of a student
that is alphabetically arrange and displayed in this module.
STUDENT ACCOUNT
The student account is a record or statement of financial expenditure or receipts relating to a
particular enrolled student. The student registration also computes the total payments and
balances of the tuition of a registered student in the school.
CLASS LISTING
The class listing is published before advising and registration begin for each semester and
summer session. It lists each class being offered, its time, location, instructor (if available), and
its unique number which students must know in order to register. The student registration also
lists the student on their corresponding adviser, session and the section of the registered student.
LIMITATION
The system only manages the student records and not the teachers records.
The system has the capabilities to accept few modes of students payments such as direct
cash and other online payments by a specific bank

The system only assigned teacher can access the system using the username and
password provided by the user.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

TO THE COMPANY
To the company proper managing of files ensures that you can find what you need when
you need it. The company also has security for the students information and the company
can determine the number of the students who is enrolled in the school.
TO THE USER
To the user of the student registration system who is the teacher, it can also secure the
information of its students. And if time will come that someone will question about the
payments of the student the user or the teacher in charge can easily present the statement
of accounts of a specific student.
TO THE RESEARCHER
For us researchers, the significance of this study is to get ready and to be familiarized in
the field the researcher choose on how to create an effective program and also to exercise
their knowledge in what the researcher have been studied in this project.
