Twenty Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Greetings of peace,
One of the joys of working as Franciscans in Boston is our wonderful relationship with the priests of
the Archdiocese of Boston. Were grateful for their hard work and their holiness. At any given time,
we are working together on one initiative or another.
Personally, its inspiring to see diocesan priests from the area coming in to pray at the Shrine. It
speaks of the priests comfortability with the Franciscans, the sacredness of 100 Arch Street, and
holiness of the priests themselves.
Arch Street is located in the Central Region of the Archdiocese. The Episcopal Vicar for that region
is the Very Reverend James Flavin. We are grateful for his support of the diverse and complex
ministries at Arch Street.
Its a special blessing that, by coincidence only, we happen to be working in an Archdiocese that is
led by a Franciscan. We are extremely grateful for the leadership and inspiration of Cardinal
Sen Patrick OMalley, OFM Cap.
Finally, congratulations to the two newest Auxiliary Bishops of the Archdiocese, Bishop Mark
OConnell and Bishop Robert P. Reed. We wish them well in their new ministries. God bless you!

A Message from our 20s/30s Director

Hello, my name is Erin and I am the Director of the
20s/30s young adult ministry group at the Shrine. Before
becoming the director, I was an active member of the
group. Years ago, I stopped going to Church, primarily
because I didn't feel welcome. A couple of years ago, I
went past the Shrine and noticed the signs that say "All are
Welcome." I gave it a try and just kept on coming and I did
indeed feel welcome. I then tried out a few activities with
the 20s/30s group and loved it. I met new people, got to
interact with the Friars, learned more about my faith, the
Bible and ways to deepen my relationship with God. It is
my hope that I can extend that welcome to more young
adults and provide them with the extraordinary experience
that I had and continue to have in this group. Your financial
support to our group helps educate the next generation of
Catholics, helps us to offer programming at no or low cost
and most importantly, helps us to create the welcoming
environment that the Friars and staff are committed to
providing. On behalf of the Shrine and the members of our
group, we thank you!
