Safe Use of

Certified Equipment
for Hazardous Area
Training
Hazardous Areas occur in many
industries such as in the oil and gas,
petrochemical, chemical industries,
dust/fibre environment and mining
industries.

IEC STANDARDS+ IEC 60079

Due to potentially explosive

atmosphere, equipment used must be
selected to suit the requirement and
they must be installed, inspect and
maintained in such a way that its
protective function is not compromised.
These equipment not limited to electrical and
instrumentation but mechanical equipment those may
get hot or create friction/spark are potential of ignition
sources. Those equipment need to be select, install,
inspect, maintain and repair & overhaul by skill &
competence person and according to certain standards
or practices to ensure they still maintain their safety
design parameters.
This training is intended to give an understanding of the
hazardous areas from the initial nature of the problem
through the identification and classification of the hazard,
selection and the different types of protections with some
practical exercises & equipment demonstrations.

Who Should Go for

the Training?
The courses are meant for anyone involved in
the design, specification, installation
maintenance or documentation of industrial
instrumentation, control & electrical systems in
HAZARDOUS AREAS.
This includes but not limited to:

Trainees
Technicians
Engineers
Managers

Inspectors
Regulatory Authorities
Installers
Designers

Pre-Requisite
Delegates of selective courses have to be equipped with basic
electrical/instrument or any technical qualifications at
certificate level as minimum.
The course is a classroom presentation supplement with
videos; equipment inspection exercises and demonstration of
the subjects base on IEC 60079 series standard where
applicable on some of the topics. Participants are introduced to
the concept of risk evaluation and area classification, methods
of reducing the risk of ignition & understanding
the various type of certified equipment. Participants
are encouraged to share their issues for
discussion and actively participate. Tests will be
given at the end of the course.
