Monaco Coach Group [Mnc]

First Call/Thomson Financial Insiders' Chronicle, May
1, 2000
• E-mail

• Link

Over the past few years, as technology has increasingly hogged the spotlight, companies
like Monaco Coach have been overlooked. Trading at only seven times earnings and
close to its 52-week lows, the company appears severely undervalued. Maybe investors
will begin to take notice as the recent IQ earnings sink in. The company earned 67 cents
per share, an increase of 31% from the same period last year, while net income rose 30%
to $12.9 million. In response to increasing demand, Monaco recently added 600,000
square feet of production capacity to its Coburg, OR plant. MNC insiders likewise appear
to be excited about the company's outlook, as from February 4 through March 3l, four
MNC insiders acquired a combined 20,408 shares, 9,033 shares of which were purchased
on the open market at prices ranging from $16.88 to $17.94 per share.

Chairman, CEO, & President Kay Toolson exercised options to acquire 3,375 shares.
Toolson had been a heavy seller throughout '99, selling a total of 175,000 shares. He last
acquired 9,000 shares in December '98, then sold in mid-'99, realizing a 110% profit. VP
Finance, CFO John Nepute also exercised options to acquire stock 8,000 shares in his
case. He last acquired and held 8,475 shares in October '99, but had been a seller from '96
through '98. Both Toolson and Nepute are acquiring shares at higher prices than in the
past. Additionally, Director Richard Rouse purchased 6,700 shares. Rouse has been a net
acquirer since joining the board in '93, yet this is his largest purchase to date. Finally, VP,
CAO Richard Bond bought 2,333 shares in his largest transaction since joining the
company in February '97.

Earlier this month, Thor Industries announced plans to acquire competitor Coachmen Ind.
for $18 per share, which represents a 40% premium. This merger could open the door for
future industry consolidation, which would serve as a catalyst to jumpstart the RV sector.
President Toolson has stated his belief that the stock is undervalued and his belief that
"eventually, value stocks are going to come back." It is always nice to see executives
backing their words with their own money. Monaco Coach Corporation is one of the
nation's leading manufacturers of recreational vehicles. The company offers customers
luxury recreational vehicle models under the Monaco, Holiday Rambler and McKenzie
brand names.

About Us
The Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG) is the world's largest manufacturer, seller and distributor
of Pepsi-Cola beverages — some of the world's most recognized consumer brands. PBG
became a publicly-traded company in March 1999 through one of the largest initial
public offerings in the history of the New York Stock Exchange.

PBG generates nearly $14 billion in annual sales. It operates in the United States,
Canada, Greece, Mexico, Russia, Spain and Turkey, accounting for more than one-half of
the Pepsi-Cola beverages sold in North America, and about 40 percent of the Pepsi-Cola
system volume worldwide.
We Sell Soda
The PBG sales force of more than 30,000 customer representatives sells and delivers
nearly 200 million eight-ounce servings of Pepsi-Cola beverages per day. PBG's focus is
on superior sales execution, customer service, merchandising and operating excellence.

While PBG's mission states, "We Sell Soda," the fastest growing segment of our business
is non-carbonated beverages, including the number one brand of bottled water in the
U.S., Aquafina, number one brand of bottle water in Russia, Aqua Minerale and the
number one jug water in Mexico, Electropura. PBG's non-carbonated portfolio includes
Tropicana juice drinks, Lipton Iced Tea, Starbucks Frappuccino and Doubleshot, the
SoBe line of healthy refreshment beverages, Dole juices and a leading array of Energy
drinks, with Mount Dew Amp, SoBe No Fear and SoBE Adrenaline Rush.

PBG's operations in Greece, Mexico, Russia, Spain and Turkey also bottle and sell
regional products and brands, including the Mirinda flavors line, Manzanita Sol, KAS
flavors and mixers, Fiesta flavors and Fruko flavored carbonated soft drinks.
