and most specially to the residents of Sitio Kislap for providing us with necessary data
for entertaining all our queries about their community.

guidance, strength and knowledge that he has given us.

Community Research .

knowledge, teaching us the importance of education and learning.
And lastly, for the residents of Barangay Fairview Sitio Kislap who participate to
our Community Service.

INTRODUCTION
Community Health Nursing is a nursing practice outside the hospital which
focuses on the rural and remote areas. In building a strong and stable nation, the
development and empowerment of the communities must be of utmost importance.
The greatest need, therefore, is to promote the health of the families in the
community, prevent possible illness and control ailments that are already present.
The ultimate goal is a healthy community.
This venture can be realized through the collaboration of the community
residents. And the advantageous number of nursing student and its mentor. The
community extension services of St. Augustine College of Quezon City have felt the
need to reach out to a community and adopt it as its own and assist it towards
progress. The chosen community is Brgy. Fairview Sitio, Kislap Q,C. On September 9,
2016, the level 2 PN 1 nursing students of St. Augustine College started their
Community Organizing and Participatory Action Research (COPAR) in the said
community as part of their requirement for the subject CHN. The students will hold a
series of activities which will foster care and at the same time conduct a research on
the deficiencies of the community and find out what they need and what can be
done improve of community condition. This effort of entire agencies. Will hopefully
support the governments project in strengthening families and communities that
someday maybe self-sufficient and independent.

BARANGAY HISTORY
Barangay Fairview was officially created as a Barangay Assembly pursuant to
Presidential Decrees (PD) 86 and 210 which was subsequently recognized as Barangay under
PD 557 dated September 21, 1974

Declaring All Barrios and Citizens Assemblies in the

Philippines as Barangay and by virtue of Executive Order No. 24 dated June 25, 1975 of the
Mayor Norberto S. Amoranto issued pursuant to PD 557.
During the decade prior to the declaration of Martial Law in late 1960s pioneer land
developer B.C. Regalado and Co., in partnership with the Union of GSIS employees headed by
Mr. Antonio A. Ancheta, organized and established a subdivision with approximately Five
Hundred (500) families, named it Fairview Park. The word Fairview derives from the words
per se ; being far from the city or urbanization and of having a wonderful views of its
wilderness covering some 312 hectares of land.
A couple of creeks crossed this wilderness and pouring its clear spring water into the
Tullahan River. This wilderness had to give way to the urgent demand to develop residential
lots for the growing population of the cities in Metro Manila. A pioneering land developer, B.C.
Regalado & Co., saw the potential of these wilderness and in the early 1970s was able to
convert this vast tract of land into residential subdivision complete with housing units. The
wilderness had come to pass and in its place is now found the FAIRVIEW PARK SUBDIVISION.
In the 90s up to the present, Fairview rapidly developed into a bustling community,
with increased business and social activities. The entire stretch of Fairview Avenue
transformed itself as one of the main

arteries of Quezon City providing access for non

Fairview residents. Influx of new residents increased as new subdivisions mushroomed.

Business establishments increased ten fold especially in Fairview, Regalado and Dahlia
Avenues now considered commercial areas. Educational institutions for tertiary, secondary,
grade school likewise increased.

LAND AREA/POPULATION
Barangay Fairview comprises a total area of 350 hectares with a total population of
50,000 inhabitants (as of December 2015), 17,000 households, and 16,902, registered voters
and 96 voting centers as of October 2015.
It covers a total land area of 3,500,000 square meters. Approximate land use as
