Executive Summary
In 2014, Bangkok poll conducted a self-assessment survey on the level of stress amongst Thais
all over the country. The findings indicated that about eighteen percent of all respondents fall into
the category of elevated stress levels. Bangkok, the capital, sees twenty-two point one percent of
the respondents belonging to the elevated stress group, four points higher than the national average.
This had led to the question of what could be done to help alleviate the stress of Bangkokians.
Achieving the 11th goal of the Sustainable development goals is the aim of this project that
being sustainable cities and communities. To bring about this goal by focusing on urban health, via
implementing a digital platform as a means to communicate with urban dwellers, in particular, young
professionals between the ages of 23-35, our focus group. To relieve the stress of this working age is
the mission to achieve the goal, as we believe that factors such as environment, a general lack of
space in urban areas and office work impacts lifestyle and contributes to the level of stress. As a
result, designing an application that would help relieve stress and create social interaction in the
form of office games. This game would help create a more amicable atmosphere and encourage
social interaction amongst co-workers. Users of this application must enter their personality to aid in
its function, and each week players would be ranked to encourage interaction and competition in the
office.

Theory relate to stress

Environment Psychology
Meaning

Interplay between individuals and their surroundings.

encompass natural environments,social settings, built
environments, learning environments, and
informational environments

Why we need to know this field?

If we solve the solving problems involving human
environment interactions, whether global or local, one
must have a model of human nature that predicts the
environmental conditions under which humans will
behave. This model can help design, manage, protect
and/or restore environments that enhance reasonable
behavior, predict the likely outcomes when
theseconditions are not met, and diagnose problem
situations

How this field help?

1.Identify the relationship between environment and
people such as density and crowding(affect on
mood+cause stress-related illness), noise pollution
(increase environmental stress),sub - standard living,
urban decay
2.Understand problem and get the good solution such
as Windows should close one and open one for getiing
some light, Square room feel less crowded than
rectangle one, having personal space in public space

1. Place Identity

Meaning: ones attitudes, feelings, ideas, memories, personal values

and preferences toward the range and type of physical settings,
he/she can then understand the environment they live in and their
overall experience.
-He/she is able to evaluate which properties in different environments
fulfil his/her various needs. When a place contains components that
satisfy a person they will create memories within a place, attachment
is built and it is through ones personal connection to a place, that
he/she gains a sense of belonging and purpose, which then gives
significance and meaning to their life

2. Place attachment

Meaning: Place attachment deals with the importance of the amount

of time spent at a certain place.
-It is ones emotional or affective ties to a place, recognizes generally
thought to be the result of a long-term connection with a certain
environment. And that place become meaningful to them

3. Environmental Consciousness

Meaninrecognisehow the physical place is significant, and look at the

people/place relationship.Environmental awareness has come to be
related to the growth and development of understanding and
consciousness toward the biophysical environment and its problems.

4. Behavior Setting

Meaning: to help explain the relationship between the individual and

the immediate environment.

What is
stress?

Stress is a feeling of strain and pressure. Humans experience stress or

perceive things as threatening when they do not believe that their resources
for coping with obstacles (stimuli, people, situations, etc.) are enough for
what the circumstances demand. When we think the demands being placed
on us exceed our ability to cope, we then perceive stress.

Positive stress

Design Elements
1. Assumption

2. Function of
the system

From the research, one of Top 5 reasons that make people in working age live in
stress is problem with the colleague. The assumption, If it is possible to change the
workplace environment, stressful will be reduced respectively from the working age
people (who work in the office). And this idea lead to the Application called Closer

This application will be a mediator

between the company and its employees.
The function of this app will contain the
organization news and others interesting
thing or fact about the organization and it
will let all of the members of the
organization sign in to join.

More importantly, we have also designed a space for

people in the organization to exchange their opinions
through the news and meeting room within organization.
Moreover, this application creates activities that make all of
employees participate together by using it as a mediator to
connect them to do activities together for a proposed to
build a better relationship within the organization to reduce
the stress of working people.

3. prototypes
develops

35

1 st Prototype
Change environment, New activities, Relive stress
Under the concept of encouraging people to
go out, change surrounding environment to
relief their stress. We found that people in
working age they live in the same routine,
every day is the same. So, we want them to
break their routine by using our application
that will tell you where and when the place
that near your workplace or surrounds their
house have and activity or event. Our first
page will have a choice for you to choose.
You want to find out about events or activity
or we make it even more for them by show
them is their activity near them at that time
by our Around you ?

36

The second page, the black box at the right Conner is Menu. The feature that is not the main feature will
present to the user:
1. The cat room is provided for finding people that have the same interest as them to go out and do the activity
or go to the event together.
2. Tap to call is for people that want to hold or be a host of an activity. They can call the number, which will be
the place that people can rent or hold the activity. This feature is provided because sometimes they have an
interesting plan, but do not know how to make it happen. So, after calling and everything is set their own
activity and wait for people to join them and meet up.
3. From the step two, after everything has done, touch the create tab and just put the name and the code of
your activity in it. Their very own activity will present on the map.

37

2nd Prototype
Challenge People depend on their interest
Keep concept of encourage people to go out and try to make people within the society that they live in
participate together aim to relieve stress by creating community that will collect the information about
the interest and activity that people surround you like to go and after work they can go and do it
together or go by the suggestion from people in our application.

*Special feature*
Challenge people surround them or people they know to do the activity they have done or other
interesting activity.

38

Our first page, will ask you to create

their account with either Facebook or
the Id that they have with us.
Second, it will lead them to their home
page and let them fill all the
information that they want it to present
to the others when they tab to interest
it will have the categories for them to
choose

This is three categories for them to

choose. an activity that will present on
location feature will base on their
interest.

39

If the application is closed, it will have

notification to remind the activity that
will happen near them. They can
choose to join, reject or invite their
friend or suggest to them through our
app.

Chat window, in case if they want to talk

about the event or the activity that they
have same interest together. And lastly,
feature call lists. If the user like the
particular activity they can keep it in
lists, the application will remind them if
that activity about to happen. Moreover,
they can use lists to set their activity
schedule or to keep this app remind
them the activity that they want to go.

40

Final Prototype
The final idea is more specifically on creating good environment within the
workplace to relieve working age people stress. From the research, working age live in
their workplace about 8 hours a day. That is a lot, Instead of creating a good
environment why not start it at the workplace, fix at the workplace where the stress
happens instead of trying to make them go out. A lot of people from the interviews
said that after work they feel so tried what they want is to go home and meet their
family.
The reason of working age has the same routine and dont want to go out is not
about they dont want to go or they cannot find a place to go but it is about the feeling,
after a tough day, no place is better than home and family. It would be better for them
if we can change their feeling when they go to work. So, the final prototype aim to
make people in the workplace have a better understanding of each other talking more
share they though more instead of sitting separately working like a robot and build a
stressful workplace environment.
41

Ask the user to log in.

Let the user do the personality test

to see what is the user weakness. So,
this app can deliver the challenge
that can help them develop
themselves and relief stress at the
same time.

Final prototypes Feedback

We have interview people from Chorrungrueng commercial.co.Ltd which has many employees which work quite hard and
varies in each department, most of them are stressful during work and have less time to rest. Moreover, employees have no
conversations with the others consequently, their relationship was not close as it should be.

Receptionist

"For me, I think it could work well with me because there are
interesting functions to follow such as the tests that can
evaluate me, and game that release my stress and also can
play with workmates. As I am a receptionist I love to talk to
everyone with willingness and fun so the challenge in this
application is very easy to me to follow and I enjoy it very
much, it is not only release stress but also I know more about
my workmates, the environment at work place has become
better and better!"

Salesman

"The application is quite good, but some part of this application,

I am lazy to follow it such as meditation, maybe I do not to like
to meditate, but it would be nice for someone else. Because at
the work places atmosphere is not suitable for meditation,
because there will always be people walking around and noisy,
so I chose to not follow it for me. In the game part, I thought it
releases stress well. I compete with colleagues via this
application, probably because I like competition. Then it also
makes me forget things that cause me stress. And I like task
manager function because I have to manage to run multiple
applications in a single day, which makes me feel stress and
worried that the works will be done in time or not. But this
application seems that many of them are organised making the
job look easy."
50

Human Resources Manager

The business owner

"I really like the task manager function because my tasks

required working speed to deal with it and some work have to
be ordered what to do first or later, so this application very
suitable for my job, it can make chaotic things to be orderly.
Moreover, concentration comes first in my job, there is the
meditation program in the application, so I usually use this
before starting my work and consequently, I have more
willing to do work and also the productivity is improved. In
addition, my boss also like the productivity and I feel proud
with this, I feel very happy."

"It must be a good thing that has activities among employees.

But how to know that they will not do activities or
challenge during work time. Most people in office, they are
focused on Their own task or computer. They have a joining
time only After work. But I think that relax after work. This
application may be a benefit during work. But do not forget to
focus on The budget and application warranty."

4. Human factor considers (Design Element)

Human relationship
The first factor is human relations are a technique use to encourage people to do the
thing with love. It can use to motivate workers to work under the circumstances that company
give to them. If relationship amount employees are strong they can easily achieve the goals of
the organisation together. By working with people who have a good relationship, it will create a
present work atmosphere.
Atmosphere in workplace
The second factor, A bad atmosphere can lead to poor
performance from good employees. It can drag the performance of the
employees down. Workplaces that have a bad atmosphere can lead to
the feeling of wanted and feeling stressed. The worker will only show up
to work and do just enough work to get by and get paid. They will have
no engagement with the co-worker and the company at all. Good work
atmosphere can drive the worker and allows them grow and get better
at their job and their mental health (stress). So, creating a great
workplace atmosphere is one thing that we need to consider.
Stress
Is the main factor that we focusing on, Stress is an alarm system of
the body it can cause headaches and muscle pain.
52

Motivation
Motivation is the driving force that can
change human behaviour and the direction
of their goals in the life. The behaviour of
the People who are highly motivated will
tend to successes in achieving their life
goal. However, people with low motivation
will have a hard time achieving their goal.
Personality
Each personality is the identity of that
person which tell the different from other
people. Personality is the result of the
coordination of the brain based on genetics.
And the experience gained from the
environment.
