The key takeaways are about setting up batter boards properly with the correct dimensions and tolerances, following company rules and regulations, and maintaining proper housekeeping according to safety standards.

The two main types of batter boards mentioned are continuous batter boards that surround the site and individual pieces used for each foundation post. Single and double corner batter boards are also described.

The steps mentioned are securing the batter boards away from the building line with the proper tolerances of 5mm for dimensions and 3mm for levelness.

Learning Objectives:
After reading this Information Sheet, You must be able to:
1. Know the different types of batter boards.
2. Identify types of batter boards
Before indulging in any job practices, it is necessary for us to know first its
fundamental knowledge:

BATTER BOARDS
-are the horizontal boards ace at the corner and at the sides of the
projected building when final layout takes place. The reference for
foundation is marked on this boards.
2. Two types of Batter Boards:
Batter boards for foundation posts may be either joined by continuous
pieces surrounding the site of foundation or by individual piece for its
foundation.

INFORMATION SHEET 1.2-2

Securing batter boards with tolerances for dimension

Learning Objectives:
After reading this Information Sheet, you must be able to:
1. Perform lay outing batter boards
2. Perform how to set batter boards
3. Observe the allowable tolerance for dimension and levelness of the
batter board.
To begin with, tolerance is the allowable deviation from a standard;
especially: the range of variation permitted in maintaining a specified
dimension.
A Batter boards is properly secured with tolerances for dimensions at
5 mm, levelness of 3 mm, and plumbness of 3.
If there is a need to regulate the output voltage of a circuit, a regulator
circuit is added.

A.) Transformer Stage

In order to reduce the 220 volts/60Hz power supply at our home,
there is a need for a step-down transformer. Most electronic circuits require
a low-voltage power supply in Direct Current (DC) form. The primary and secondary voltage, current and power rating is an important thing to consider.
B.) Rectifier Stage
A rectifier circuit has two types: the Half-wave rectifier and the Fullwave Rectifier. Under the Full-wave rectifier, there are two types: the Centertapped and the bridge type rectifier. In this stage, the circuit converts AC voltage to pulsating DC voltage. Diode is the perfect device used as rectifier because of its capability to conduct current in only one direction.

Types of Rectifier Circuit:

1.) Half-wave Rectifier Circuit

- one rectifier diode and one resistor are needed to conduct one
alteration in every cycle of small AC input.

2.) Full-wave Rectifier Circuit

- the full wave rectifier is the most commonly used type in DC
power supplies. A full-wave rectifier allows birectional current to
to the load during one cycle.

2. a) Full-wave Center-Tapped Rectifier Circuit

- this type of circuit requires a center-tapped transformer, two rectifier diode, and a load resistor (R1).
Each of the diode supplies 1/2 the DC load current.
2. b.) Full-wave Bridge Type Rectifier Circuit
- this is the commonly used rectifier in DC power supply

and it uses four diodes.

- the characteristics of a Full-wave bridge type power
supply are: expensive, needs a lower value of capacitor,
and needs 4 rectifier diodes.
C. Filter Stage
This stage of the power supply smoothen the pulsating DC output
voltage of the rectifier circuit by reducing the amount of ripple voltage.
It also provides the charge voltage for the load while the rectifier diode
is not conducting.
Ripple Voltage An AC component present in the DC output voltage
of rectifier circuit.

D. Regulator Stage
The regulator stage is a circuit that maintains a constant voltage
for variations in the input linear voltage or in the load or to keep up
with the varying need for power. This is because the output voltage
suffers when the maximum power load is connected to the power
supply.

1. Determine safety precautions/requirements in assembling

a circuit.
2. Apply safety precautions/requirements inside the
working area.

In every field of work, there are safety precautions and practices to be

followed to prevent accidents. Sometimes before an accident occurs, a
warning is given so the individual concerned can prepare for the undesirable
eventualities.
In areas where trainees are acquiring basic technical skills, safety begins the
moment they enter the work area or even before reaching the work area.
Identifying health hazards and occupational risk is indispensable. In
workshop areas where trainees stay to acquire skills, there are certain
points to consider.

1. Electrical hazards are fatal like electric shocks from open wire and
grounded electrical appliance.

2. Hazards can be caused by improper use and maintenance of electronic

hand tools:
a. Cutting tools may inflict injuries and cut through the flesh or
the skin of the human body.

b. Driving tools and boring tools can break human flesh of

fracture bones.

c. Soldering tools can cause extreme heat and can burn the skin.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS/PRECAUTIONS:
For your protection, observe the following:
1. Follow all cautions, warnings and instructions.
2. All passage must be free from any obstruction that will
hamper the movement of persons in the area.
3. All tools and equipment must be checked to be in
an A1 condition.

you or hurt other people.
6. Keep the working area always clean and orderly.
7. Always use protective equipment like safety goggles if
needed while performing a task or job.
8. Some test must be connected with power supply applied.
Be extremely cautious when performing these tests.
9. Keep flammable materials and substances away from
