PERFORMANCE & DEVELOPMENT DISCUSSION

1. What is going well?


The point of this question is to establish how things are going, your personal strengths and your
main achievements over the past 6/12 months. Please refer to your Balanced Score Card for
reflecting upon agreed KPIs/ Objectives.

The freedom of expressing your ideas and liberty of putting forward your
opinions keeps me motivated. The sense of achievement is felt my proposed
solutions are implemented by my superiors. Moreover, open door policy is
exercised by my superiors which encourage me to seek their advice in
challenging circumstances.

Besides that, the environment of the department is supportive and encouraging.


As a result, I have not only learned about the operations of the life insurance
industry but also acquired knowledge regarding the functionality and
management of the ERP system.

The friendly environment has provided me with autonomy to work according to


my will and easiness as long as the objectives are accomplished and deadlines
are met. The nature of work itself is challenging which has helped me in
polishing my communication and analytical skills. As well as it has enhanced my
technical knowledge regarding ERP systems.

2. What is not going as well as it should?


Here the idea is to find out what you think are areas for improvement for the department or the
Company, and in your own performance as well. Please refer to your Balanced Score Card for
reflecting upon agreed KPIs/ Objectives.

The IT team requires additional persons in order to efficiently handle the issues
related to CoreApp and Inlcusivity. Furthermore, it will also give time to ponder
over the developments required to make the system efficient and optimal.

Furthermore, the idea of designing the CoreApp from the scratch does not sound
very efficient proposition to me. I believe we should work towards improvising
the current system rather than rewriting the whole program from the scratch. It
is waste of scarce resources including time and money.

For my personal improvement, I require the training about the query language so
that while working on the functionality of CoreApp, my dependency on the IT
guy can be minimized. This will help me come up with better solutions as I
could reach to the root of the problems.

3. What exactly is expected of you over the next 6/12 months?


The point of this question is to get clarity on your goals and priorities and how these will improve
efficiencies in their Department or generate business for the Company (Including the key
measures).

I need to resolve the existing problems in the CoreApp so that business


operations can function efficiently.

I need to improvise the processes that are followed by various departments in


order to enhance the efficiency and save costs.

Provide support to the internal customers regarding the issues pertaining to ERP
system.

Provide assistance to our clients in South Africa which includes Inclusivity.

4. What plans do you have to grow yourself, and to grow the company?
The idea here is to encourage you to articulate your improvement plan, how you intend to get to
the next level as well as how you envisage improvements for the Company.

I plan to acquire knowledge and keeping myself up to date regarding the


insurance industry and the ERP systems. Improvised testing and recording
methodologies need to be implemented. So each and every development of the
system can be documented.

I also need to learn and improvise my skills and talents in order to implement
developments and achieve my goals.

Furthermore, I need to construct a culture which pushes not only me but also
people around me to grow and polish their skills. I will continue to take up
challenging tasks and ideas so that in order to achieve continuous development
of my skill-set.

5. Your expectations of your Manager. To assist me in achieving my KPI's


and priorities I would appreciate from you:

More of formation of arenas, opportunities and projects which are challenging


for me and will place me high on my learning curve. Personal involvement in the
ideas suggested by me, aimed at the improvement of the whole department.
Same of the constant support and appreciation provided. Moreover, it is good to
know that your manager has got your back when you are undertaking
professional risks to bring in innovation. Less of involvement in the routine
activities and more interest in pushing everyone towards development.
