NOTES ON USE OF CHART

1. Chart results are based on the use of our

standard strainer inserts. When lined
with mesh multiply pressure drop by
1.25

2. For liquids other than cold water

correction factors must be applied for
viscosity and density.

3. The chart is for clean screens. When

strainers are clogged to 59% of open
area pressure drops will approximately
double.

4. To obtain pressure loss in millimetres of

water multiply kPa value from chart by
102.1

To obtain pressure loss in feet of water,

multiply psi value from chart by 2.31.

5. For suction service convert millimetres of

mercury to kPa by multiplying by 0.13.

For suction service, convert inches of

mercury to psi by multiplying by 0.49.

6. Pressure drops for strainers used with

steam, gases and special fluidscan be
supplied upon request.

EXAMPLE: Size of strainer to handle 4.8 litres per second

of water with a pressure drop not more than 14 kPa (2
psi) when clean. SIZE: 50mm
