    Hermetic Theurgy

    Invocation of the Genius in the Material


    Cosmos:

    Preparation
    Prepare an altar or clear a space if outdoors, and place an
    object symbolic of the sun: round disc, something golden, an
    image or icon of a solar divinity, or one of the solar plants
    (sunflower, chamomile, heliotrope, marigold) in a vase. Place a
    candle or lamp on the altar, and a way to light it. If you do not
    use the Dissolution into Sunyata and Four Immeasurables for
    purification, also place a bowl with water and a small salt dish
    on the altar.
    Use this altar throughout the day for the three invocations
    below.

    Morning
    1. at daybreak or as soon as possible, light the candle
    2.perform the Opening gesture and take refuge
    3.perform the Earth Cross, and at its completion, imagine
    yourself growing vastly in size until the Earth is in your heart
    or solar plexus
    4.if purifying with water and salt:
    a.sprinkle salt in the water, saying I purify and consecrate
    this water.
    b.dip your hands in the water and visualize all cares and
    concerns rinsed away
    5.if purifying with the Dissolution and Immeasurables, perform
    these as described in other documents in this course.
    6.visualize a brilliant point of light far above. See it begin to
    descend, bearing the Name Her as it comes.
    7.the light flares above your head in the sephirah Kether
    8.it then descends to below your feet into Malkuth like a
    lightning bolt
    9.begin breathing, and draw the light into your heart sephirah,
    Tiphareth
    10.in your mind, chant the Name Her! over and over, building
    in intensity
    11.at the moment of greatest exaltation, perform the projection
    gesture, calling the Name forcefully as you do, and send it to
    the farthest reaches of the Cosmos, where it joins with the
    One who possesses that Name
    12.enter the sign of silence and await the return of force as it
    comes from Her
    13.put out the candle, visualizing it as returning to the otherworld
    temporarily

    Noon
    1. at noon or as close as possible to noon (adjust for daylight
    savings if need be), light the candle, and perform the Earth
    Cross, again growing vastly in size
    2. once again, disembody the candle flame but see it in your
    minds eye

    Nightfall
    1. at sunset, perform the Earth Cross, grow in size, and
    distribute the merit
    2. perform the closing gesture
    3. dowse the candle and thank it for its light
