Product description
Jotatemp 650 is a high-build, one-component Inert Multipolymeric Matrix coating designed to provide corrosion
protection of structures exposed to extreme high and /or extreme low temperatures.
Recommended use
Corrosion protection of insulated and none -insulated carbon steel and stainless steel with dry operating surface
temperatures that can range from cryogenic to above 650C (intermittent 720C) including cyclic services in
temperatures between -185C and 540C. Jotatemp 650 can be applied on hot substrates (up to 260C). Especially
suited for preventing corrosion under insulation during construction and shut down /low temperature periods.

Surface preparation
All surfaces should be clean , dry and free from contamination . The surface should be assessed and treated in
accordance with ISO 8504.
Bare steel
Cleanliness: Power tool cleaning to min. St 2, mill scale free (ISO 8501-1:2007) and a roughness between 35 - 50
microns. Improved surface treatment (blast cleaning to Sa 2) will improve the performance .
Other surfaces
The coating may be used on other substrates . Please contact your local Jotun office for more information .
Application methods
Spray Use airless spray
Brush May be used but care must be taken to achieve the specified dry film thickness .
Application data
Mixing ratio (volume) Single pack.
Thinner/Cleaner Jotun Thinner No. 21
Guiding data airless spray
Pressure at nozzle 15 MPa (150 kp/cm, 2100 psi)
Nozzle tip 0.38-0.53 mm (0.015-0.021")
Spray angle 40-80
Filter Check to ensure that filters are clean .
Note For substrate temperatures lower than 100C Jotun Thinner No. 7 can be used.
Drying time
Drying times are generally related to air circulation , temperature, film thickness and number of coats , and will be
affected correspondingly . The figures given in the table are typical with :
* Good ventilation (Outdoor exposure or free circulation of air )
* Typical film thickness
* One coat on top of inert substrate
1. The surface should be free from chalking and contamination prior to application .
2. Exposure to extreme temperature, below 0C and above 260C, should be avoided before the coating is
through dry.
The given data must be considered as guidelines only . The actual drying time/times before recoating may be shorter
or longer, depending on film thickness , ventilation, humidity, underlying paint system, requirement for early handling
and mechanical strength etc . A complete system can be described on a system sheet , where all parameters and
special conditions could be included .
Optional system:
Jotatemp 650 3 x 125 m (Dry Film Thickness)
Handling
Handle with care. Stir well before use.
Packing size
5 litre unit.
