Observing a Curricula in a Classroom

Guide questions for Observation and Interview

1. What curricula are resent in the classroom from observation?


During our observation, the curricula presented in the classroom are the
written, supported, taught, learned, assessed, and hidden curriculum.
2. What curricula are present in the classroom from our interview?
During our interview, the curricula presented are the taught and
supported curriculum.
3. How do I describe what I observed? Interview?
During the observation, we have observed and learned that teaching
isnt that easy, and without the teacher and the students, therell be no
learning in the classroom.
4. Is there a type of curricula not present in the classroom? Identify.
Yes, the curricula that wasnt presents was the recommended
curriculum, and this is just based on what we have observed.
Types of Curricula What observation/information did we
get?

1. Recommended

2. Written The teacher used the book for reading


comprehension.

3. Taught After the students have read what was


asked to them, the teacher then retell
the story to fully understand by the
students.

4. Supported The teacher used instructional materials


like laptop, projector, and speaker and
provides short video to the students
about the story.

5. Assessed After retelling and explaining the story,


the teacher conducted an oral
recitation to see if the students have
learned what they were reading.

6. Learned Most of the students were able to


answer the questions given to them.

7. Hidden We have observed that the classroom


was a well-ventilated and students were
comfortable on it.

1. Is it necessary for teachers to learn about school curriculum? Why?


Write your answers on the space provided below.
It is really necessary for teachers to learn about school curriculum
simply because, teachers cannot teach without curriculum.
Curriculum is very important because without that, therell be no
education. Schools or universities cannot exist without curriculum. It
has become a dynamic process due its changes. In the absence of
a curriculum, students cannot connect with different resources and
teachers on the other hand, can learn and be a better teachers. The
curriculum gives a lot of impacts not only for the teachers, but for the
students as well. Students may be more motivated to study if they
understand why certain subjects are taught in the curriculum. The
curriculum also bring students into higher stakes on the right track in
reaching their goals and desires. For the teachers, a schools
curriculum informs teachers what skills must be taught at each grade
level to ultimately prepare them for the next level. These are the
reasons why curriculum should be on the top.
