Want to know more about what‘s happening at St. Francis‘? Check out the bulletin board
downstairs in the Lodge near the piano. We‘ve posted 2 months‘ worth of Bishop‘s Committee min-

Vicar. Pastor Sally values input and is happy to have a conversation at any time about St. Francis‘.

So that official parish records may be updated, you are urged to pick up and complete the salmon-colored

the Teller sheets for Maxine to pick up. Knowing who to serve and how best to serve our members, requires data

Lectio Divina Groups Forming in September

There are many ways to read the Bible. One is to engage in Bible Study, but another is to pray the
scriptures.
The ancient practice of praying the scriptures is reading God‘s word mire with our heart than our
head. Lectio divina, literally holy reading, begins with cultivating the ability to listen deeply, to hear ―with
the ear of our hearts: the words of Holy Scripture. In this contemplative way we can discover an increasing
ability to offer more of ourselves and our lives to god.
Using the readings for the coming Sunday, the Rev. Susan Skinner will facilitate two groups in the
practice of lectio divina for five sessions during September.
One group will meet on Wedne4sday mornings from 11:00 a.m. to noon at St. Timothy‘s Episcopal
Church, 808 North Mason Road in Creve Coeur, beginning September 1 through September 239.
A second group will meet at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 9 South Bompart in Webster Groves, on
Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:30 p.m. beginning September 2 through September 30.
A 10 registration fee covers the cost of materials and may be brought to the first session. For further infor-
mation or to register e-mail scskinner@charter.net.

St. Francis’ Spiritual Offerings during the Week

Mondays from 5:30-6:15 p.m. at the parish house (210 S. Central) we gather for prayer.
Using Scripture appointed for that day we pray for the people of St. Francis‘, those who haven‘t
joined us yet, those on our prayer list, the needs of our community, and the world. We close each session
with Compline from 6-6:15 p.m.

Fridays from 10-11:30 a.m. at Michelle’s (104 S. Central) we study the Bible readings appointed
for the upcoming Sunday.
Please join us for these meetings whenever you can, whether weekly or once in a while. All are
welcome.
