Last but not the least we thank each and every one who helped us in the successful
completion of the survey.

PREFACE

The project work was given to fifth semester civil engineering civil engineering students as a part
of our Design Engineering Project. We were given some specifications and were asked to prepare
a plan satisfying the given specifications. CAD drawings were prepared for the plan.
This was very useful as it gave us an idea about how to make a plan by ourselves.

exceed 50%
3. The family members include two parents, two children and two grandparents
4. The grandparents live entirely inside the house
5. Both the parents are workers and their working time is between 9:30am to 5:30 pm

9. Office space, kitchen + work area, bathroom + dressing area, proper study area etc.
should be provided

2 OBJECTIVES

4 PLANNING FOR A RESIDENCE BUILDING

A plan was made according to the given specification and requirements. To overcome the
slope of the given plot the ground floor of the house is constructed multilevel. Living room,
office room, study area and one bedroom with attached bathroom are given in the lower level.
Dining area, other bed room with attached bathroom, kitchen and store and work area are given in
the upper level. A garage is given which can accommodate two vehicles.

4.1 DETAILS OF THE GROUND FLOOR

(Figure 1: ground floor plan; dimensions are in cms)

A living area 470 670 Verandah of 210 810

9
Two bedrooms: each having size 420 370
Attached bathrooms are given having size 290 160 which has both a wet area and a
dry area
Study area of size 420 320
Dining area 450 500
Kitchen of size 360 300
Store room of size 360 160
Work area of size 170 300
A garage of size 600 700 to park two vehicles is also given
A 590 590 car porch is also provided

The entrance door is given a standard size of 110 210. All other doors are having
dimension 90 210. Windows are having dimension 150 180. Ventilator for bathrooms
are having 60 cm length.

4.2 DETAILS OF FIRST FLOOR

A hall of size 450 720

Two bedrooms each of size 720 360
Attached bathrooms are given having size 290 160 which has both wet area and a
dry area
An open sit out of size 380 570
Laundry area of size 380 230
Recreation room of size 450 360
Green space of area 910 320

All doors are having dimension 90 210. Windows are having dimension 150

4.3 Other Details

Other than the details of the house, a kennel is made outside the house for the pet dog.
The family living in the house is interested to raise cattle. Therefore a cattle shed is provided.

4.4 Area calculation of the given plot

Given dimension of the plot is 60 40 .

Area of the given plot = 60 40

= 2400 2

12= 0.0247 cents

Therefore, 24002= 59.305 cents

Area in which the house is constructed (Including double garage and car porch)

= (12.5 13.6) + (6 7) + (1.7 3) + (5.9 5.9)

= 262.1 2

= 6.48 cents

12
5 CONCLUSION
The area utilized by the house including double garage and car porch is 6.48 cents. After
providing garden, kennel and cattle shed, the area utilized will not be greater than 50% of the plot
area which is 29.6525 cents thus satisfying the condition (the condition was that total usage of the
land should be less than half of the plot area). Most of the requirements were satisfied and the
CAD drawings are drawn. CAD DRAWINGS ARE ATTACHED AT THE END OF THE
REPORT.
