Mountain Home Child Care, Inc,

August/September 2010

Dear Parents:
Welcome to a new school year!! Included in this extra long newsletter will be our schedule and some
information you need for this month. I promise they will not usually be this long.
I really look forward to sharing in your child and getting to know each of our new kids. We have several kids
returning and they are awesome. I am going to post a sign-up for phone and e-mail exchange for the parents
to share. If you wish to participate, please feel it out. By filling it out, you are giving me permission to share it
with our families, but no one else. If you do not wish to participate, that is just fine. This list comes in handy
for parents who need to schedule a play date, or possibly carpool.
I will open at 8:45 for those of you who need a little earlier. Please don’t arrive any earlier. Remember, we
close no later than 4:30. Last year I felt a little taken advantage of with late arrivals. Starting today, please
know that I will charge everyone if they are late. It is $10plus $1.00 a minute and I will enforce it. If you think
you may be late, please have a backup plan, carpool with another parent, or have a neighbor on call that can
pick up. If you are going to have another person pick up on a regular basis, we need to fill out a form for your
child.
Now that it is fall, please make sure that we have a jacket, and a change of clothes for fall. Please sunscreen
your kids each morning as we will continue to spend time outside as much as possible before the weather
changes.
I will pass out a book order with each newsletter. This is a great way to build a library for your child . This is
strictly voluntary. If you wish to order, you may make out one check for all of the orders payable to
Scholastic. Fill out the order forms and make sure to include your child’s name. Books are usually delivered
within 2 weeks after the due date. For each book your child orders, scholastic helps to build our school’s
collection.
Instead of Flat Stanley, (which everyone seems to forget on their adventures) we are going to have try an
easier program for your child to share with us. I am including a couple of scrapbook sheets that we are
calling our Look What I Did pages. Please send in sheets for your child (with pictures preferably) about the
fun and exiting places they go and things they do. Going to a museum, having a birthday, soccer practice,
and vacations. Use your imagination. This is a great way for your child to learn they have a place in the
world. They get to share with the class what they did and we ask questions. Please try and send in one
sheet a month. The kids love to go thru the scrapbooks all year long.
I have had several people ask if they could donate anything for this year. Thank you for the offer. I will be
asking for some recycling type items for art projects through out the year. One of the items I know we need
will be an empty ketchup or syrup bottle, medium sized when we are on the letter v. Keep that in mind. Also,
if you throw away your printer cartridges, bring them in. Staples gives me a rebate that I use for ink and
paper. If I think of anything else, I will let you know.
I am currently going to classes to gain an endorsement in Dr. Barry Brazelton’s Touchpoint program. (That is
one reason I am such a stickler about 4:30, my classes are at UVU in Orem on Tues./ Thurs./ and Sat) I will
be looking for feedback on some ideas for that class and needing some participation. More about it later. It is
a great program for parents and teachers to really understand child development and make the best choices
for each child.
Tuition remains the same this year. For August, it will be $40 a day and you can include it with September’s
tuition if you would like.
