WORK METHOD STATEMENT

FOR
DRAINAGE WORKS

SCOPE OF WORK

The scope of work covers the following activities such as setting out, excavation, concrete base,
laying wire mesh, laying half round glazed ware, concreting, brickwork, strutting, plastering,
back filling and other related work.

MACHINERY AND MAN POWER

The following machinery and manpower to be used for drainage works :


(1) Excavator - 1 no.
(2) Backhoe - 1 no
(3) Concrete mixer - 2 nos.
(4) Surveyor - 1
(5) Supervisor - 1
(6) Skill workers - 5
(7) General workers - 12

DRAINAGE WORKS

1. The setting out, alignment and sump location shall be done before commencement the
work.
2. Excavator shall be used for excavation works. Depth of excavation shall follow invert
level as per construction drawings.
3. Gradient of excavation shall be checked.

4. Loose soil shall be removed manually.
5. Concrete base shall be constructed as per specified. The concrete grade, depth and width
shall be followed as specified in the construction drawings.
6. Wire mesh shall be provided as per specified.
7. Half round glazed ware shall be laid in true alignment on top of concrete base.
8. Half round glazed ware shall be joined in 1:3 cement sand motar.
9. Uniformly and smooth finished shall be maintained.
10. The concrete drains shall be jointed with 1:3 cement sand mortar.
11. After 24 hours, brick wall shall be constructed to the required height and thickness as
shown in the approved construction drawings.
12. Inner surface and top of the walls shall be plastered with 20 mm thick cement. Uniform
surface finished shall be maintained
13. Both sides of brick wall shall be filled with suitable material.

SUMP CONSTRUCTION

1 The location and position of sump shall follow as per construction drawing.
2 Bricks material shall be as per approved sample.
3 Surveyor shall be controlled the invert level of sump before commencement the work.
4 Excavator shall be used for excavation works.
5 Concrete base shall be constructed as per specified.
6 The concrete grade, thickness, sump dimension and depth shall be followed as per
construction drawings.
7 Wire mesh shall be provided as per specified.
8 Brick shall be laid in English or Flemish bond.
9 Brick joint shall be mixed by cement motar 1:3
10 Inner surface and top of the walls shall be plastered with 20 mm thick cement.
11 Uniform surface and smooth finished shall be maintained.
12 Sides of brick wall shall be filled with suitable material.
13 Sump cover shall be constructed as per construction drawing.
