INDEMNITY AGREEMENT
In consideration of being permitted to compete for the event/we agreed to the following:
1. I acknowledge that I am fully aware of the hazards and dangers invested in the Labuan
Duathlon Challenge 2018 and hereby assume all risks involved our participation in this
event. I understand that there will be NO refund after payment of fees MADE.
2. I hereby release, waive, discharge and comments not to sue the promoters, participants,
organizers, ministries, agents, sponsors, representatives and officials, all for purposes
referred to us "Releases FROM ALL LIALBILITY TO THE UNDERSIGNED, his / her personal
representatives, assigns, heirs and next of kin FOR ANY AND ALL LOSS OR DAMAGE,ANY
CLAIM OR DEMANDS THEREFORE RELATED TO THE EVENT(S) WHETHER CAUSED BY
NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASES OR OTHERWISE”.
3. This agreement binds me, heirs, legatee, personal representatives and all these claiming
through me.
4. I hereby agree to follow all rules set forth in the Labuan Duathlon Challenge 2018 rules and
agree to abide by any penalty(s) set by the organizer.
5. I agree that in the event cancellation due to storm, rain, inclement wheather, or "act of
Mother Nature" conditions, my entry shall be non-refundable.

Relay team will be following the below additional rules & regulations :-
1. Duathlon Relay will apply the same Rules and regulations as the individual category
principal.
2. Duathlon relay teams are composed of 2 team members. One person is the runner, the
other is the cyclist. The runner will begin in a starting wave with the other relay teams and
complete the entire running course. The runner then runs through the transition area and
tag his/her cycling teammate. The cyclist will be waiting in a designated tag zone.
3. The biker then completes the entire bike course, and tag the runner who is waiting in the
same tag zone.
4. The runner now dashes through transition and completes the second run course, crossing
the same finish line as the solo racers.
5. The runner/cyclist tag-zone will be clearly marked on race day.
CATEGORIES
1. MEN'S OPEN Category 18 to 49 years old (on the date 4 February 2018 ) – Any or all
International, National or State athletes (runners, road cyclists, triathletes and/or
duathletes).
2. WOMEN'S OPEN category 18 years old and above (on the date 4 February 2018 ) – Any or
all International, National or State athletes (runners, road cyclists, triathletes and/or
duathletes).
3. MEN'S VETERAN category 50 years old and above (on the date 4 February 2018 ) – Any or
all International, National or State athletes (runners, road cyclists, triathletes and/or
duathletes).
4. MEN'S RELAY category 18 years old and above(on the date 4 February 2018) – Relay team
may only consist of one designated runner & one designated cyclist. Any or all International,
National or State athletes (runners, road cyclists, triathletes and/or duathletes).
The Race Director's and organizers decision is final
*All appeals are to be made to the organizers no later than 24 hours BEFORE commencement of
the event.
B. TRANSITION AREA
1. All changeover of equipment must be done within the stipulated transition area
Run 1- T1 – Bike – T2 - Run 2 (T1 and T2 are in the same area)
2. All competitors must have their helmet buckles fastened and helmets secured on the top of
their heads, from the time they remove their bicycle from the rack, at the start of the bicycle
leg until after they have finished and placed their bicycle on the rack at the end of the
bicycle leg.
3. Competitors may only use their designated bike bays / racks. Please adhere to all
instructions, by race marshals pertaining to the transition area.
4. Competitors must not adjust, obstruct, interfere or assist with another competitor’s
equipment in the transition area.
5. You may run or walk within the transition area; we strongly recommend that you move
swiftly without obstructing or endangering yourself or other competitors, within the
transition area.
6. Cycling is STRICTLY PROHIBITED within the transition area.
7. Nudity or indecent exposure is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
8. Non-competitors will NOT be allowed into the transition area.
9. You may only claim your bike and equipment from the competitors’ area by producing your
race bib number.
10. The transition area will only OPEN approximately, 1.5 hours prior to the race start time.
11. The transition area will be CLOSED approximately 30 minutes after the official cut of time.
C. RUN – 1 HOUR CUT OFF TIME FOR EACH RUNNING LEG
1. 1 Hour cut off time limit for the first 4km and so does the second run of 1 hour cut off time
limit apply.
2. Competitors may run or walk during the required run legs.
3. Competitors may not crawl. (competitors will be deemed to be injured and extracted from
the race course)
4. Competitors are not allowed to run with a bare torso.
5. Competitors must wear their race numbers both on the front of their t-shirts or tops during
running.
6. Support vehicles or pacers are strictly prohibited. (Please see ruling on drafting).
7. Glass containers, headsets, headphones are strictly prohibited.
8. The responsibility of keeping on the course rests with the competitor. Any competitor who
appears to present a danger to themselves or others may be removed from the competition.
D.1 DRAFTING
Labuan Duathlon Challenge 2018 will be a draft legal event. The following rules will apply :-
1. It is forbidden to draft off a different gender athlete.
2. It is forbidden to draft off a motorbike or vehicle.
E. GENERAL DISQUALIFICATION
E.1 Reasons for disqualification
A competitor may be disqualified for the following :-
1. Consumption of alcohol, or other drugs 24 hours before the race.
2. Consumption of performance enhancing stimulants.
3. Refusing to follow rules and/ or instructions of race officials
4. Failing to follow the prescribed course.
5. Using abusive language or behavior untoward / unbecoming towards any official or
unsportsmanlike behaviour.
6. Blocking, charging, obstructing, or interfering with the forward progress of another
competitor.
7. Unfair contact. The fact that contact occurs between competitors does not constitute a
violation.
8. When several competitors are moving in a limited area, contact may occur. This incidental
contact between competitors in equally favorable positions is not a violation.
9. Accepting assistance from any person other than a race official or accepting assistance from
a race official which constitutes an unfair advantage.
10. Refusing to follow the instructions of a race official.
11. Departing the course for reasons of safety but failing to re-enter at the point of departure.
12. Leaving equipment or discarding personal articles on the course. Tires, plastic bottles, and
discarded items must be placed safely off the course.
13. Wearing items deemed a hazard to self or others ie : a hard cast, obtrusive jewelry,
headsets, headphones
14. Using unauthorized equipment to provide an advantage or which will be dangerous to
others.
15. Violating traffic regulations
For more detailed explanation and expansion of rules and regulations, rule books from governing
bodies International Powerman Association (IPA) and International Triathlon Union (ITU) will be used
as a basis.
