D.1 DRAFTING
Labuan Duathlon Challenge 2018 will be a draft legal event. The following rules will apply :-
1. It is forbidden to draft off a different gender athlete.
2. It is forbidden to draft off a motorbike or vehicle.

D.1.2 DRAFT LEGAL GUIDELINES

When drafting athletes should:
1. Be predictable with all actions. Maintain a steady straight line and avoid braking or changing
direction suddenly. Remember that there are riders following closely from behind.
2. Point out and call out any road hazards ahead. These include potholes, drain grates, stray
animals, opening car doors, sticks or stones, parked cars, etc.
3. Not overlap wheels. A slight direction change or gust of wind could easily cause athletes to
touch wheels and fall.
4. When climbing hills, avoid following a wheel too closely. Many riders often lose their
momentum when rising out of the saddle on a hill, which can cause a sudden deceleration.
This can often catch a rider who is following too closely, resulting in a fall from a wheel
touch.
5. Not panic if you brush shoulders, hands or bars with another rider. Try to stay relaxed in
your upper body to absorb any bumps. This is a part of racing in close bunches and is quite
safe provided riders do not panic, brake or change direction.

E. GENERAL DISQUALIFICATION
E.1 Reasons for disqualification

5. Using abusive language or behavior untoward / unbecoming towards any official or
unsportsmanlike behaviour.
6. Blocking, charging, obstructing, or interfering with the forward progress of another
competitor.
7. Unfair contact. The fact that contact occurs between competitors does not constitute a
violation.
8. When several competitors are moving in a limited area, contact may occur. This incidental
contact between competitors in equally favorable positions is not a violation.
9. Accepting assistance from any person other than a race official or accepting assistance from
a race official which constitutes an unfair advantage.
10. Refusing to follow the instructions of a race official.
11. Departing the course for reasons of safety but failing to re-enter at the point of departure.
