Chapter-5
The Last truck Ride
(1) The relationship between Pritam Singh and Nathu was warm and
affectionate. They understand each other, joked and laughed together.
(2) ‘It’ here refers to the truck of Pritam Singh.
(b) It is old and nearing a stage where it would not be able to run well.
(3) The road was narrow, steep and uneven
(4) Pritam Singh was rash and reckless driver. He drove very fast even on the
narrow mountain road which had many hairpin bends.
(5) By this statement Nathu meant that quarrying damage the land. He realized
that it was better to earn a living by agriculture while conserving nature. So,
it is our responsibility to work in harmony with nature.
(6) Pritam Singh realized that trees are an important part of our lives. It is
better to be safe than sorry.
Chapter 6
Pip’s Adventure
(1) (a) Pip lived with his sister since his parents and other siblings were dead.
(2) Pip met the convict in the grave yard, near the graves of his family.
(b) yes because the convict had threatened to cut his throat.
(3) The convict ordered Pip to get him a file to cut the irons on his leg. He
wanted the irons off, for he could be identified as an escaped convict with
them on.
(4) Pip Stole bread and cheese, mince meat, some brandy and a pork pie.
(5) He was terrified to see the handcuffs. The soldiers were carrying . He
thought that they had come to arrest him for stealing food and tools from
his sister and helping the convict.
