INTRODUCTION

The following manual will familiarize you with the setup, use and maintenance of
your printer. Please note that the diagrams shown within this manual are not to
scale, and may not show all details.
We would like to draw your special attention to the following notes:

WARNING
It is the operator’s responsibility to comply with the following safety instructions to
prevent any personal injury.
1. Please disconnect the main power supply before attempting any machine
maintenance. Foot-switch is to stop machine for adjustment only.
2. The air pressure must be released before attending to any service inside the
machine or any moving accessories.

We have used the followings signs to show special dangerous situations:

Warning!

Electrical Warning!

Warning - Danger of Fire!

Warning -
Danger of hands being crushed while working
on pneumatic elements!

Warning -
Do not smoke while working on the machine!

Maintenance
There are some regular maintenance works to keep printer in smooth operation.

1. Lubrication:
Please do lubricantion weekly on the parts of machine as shown in the following drawing:
a. Grease nipples of pad carriage

2. System Cleaning:
Please weekly check: scale ruler
- Clean-up the scale ruler.

3. Check Service Unit:

Check unit daily:
- maintain operation pressure at 5-6 bar.
- make sure service unit tube is clean.
- discharge water from the bottom of unit tube.

discharge water from here

10.1
Maintenance
HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR PAD PRINTER IN GOOD CONDITION

Section A: Starting from the pneumatic system.

1. Air must be clear with NO water or oil:

Popular problem:
As the service unit deposit with excessive water and oil,
- Water will flow into each cylinder and valve.
- The whole printer can not operated.
- Rubber ring will be damaged.
- Damage rubber ring makes solenoid valve can not be worked properly or leaks air.
- The whole printer can not operated.
Solution:
a. The best way is to install a filter or dryer at back of air compressor for clean air.
(With less unknown particles)
b. To keep 4.5 bars air pressure or above - single color printing setup.
To keep 6.0 bars air pressure or above - double and 4 color set up or above.

Section B: Mechanical Checking.

1. To apply and maintain appropriate amount of lubrication oil on parts, particularly on easy-rusty
areas .
Example: Shaft; lead screws; doctor blade mounting parts etc...
2. To keep on screwing up the easy-loose screws.
Reason for easy-loose screws: The vibration from the movement of operation.
3. To keep ink away from the worktable slide and working platform. Keep clean and tidy.
4. How to treat the printer which is not used for long time:
To cover the whole printer well by sealed plastic bag.
To apply anti-rusty oil onto easy-rusty areas.
To ensure the power switch being off.

Section C: Electricity.
1. General speaking, electricity format should be kept on AC 220V-240V.
If the voltage differential is too big, voltage regulator is needed.
Example: 220V-240V is appropriate.
- If the voltage is below the range, printer will be not worked.
- If the voltage is over the range, printer will be broken down due to the overheat of components.

Section D: Maintenance on Pad.

1. On average, pad can be stored for 6 months.
(The higher room temparature, the shorter the life of pad is.)
2. Ink must be removed from pad after each printing job and be stored in a cool place.
3. To remove heavy weight subject from the pad.
4. Pad does never be put into any plastic bag.

10.2
Maintenance
Section E: Daily Checking Issues.
1. The electricity voltage should be kept on AC 220V-240V; the earth line must be connected
properly.
2. Air inflow pressure must be not less than 4.5 Bars. If not, printer may be malfunction or
printing distortion is induced.
3. Right air pressure for doctor blade:
a. 1.5 ~ 2.0 Bars for thin steel plate.
b. 2.0 Bars for 10mm steel plate.
c. For 10mm plate, doctor blade should be replaced if the air pressure is over 3 Bars.
4. Water deposit in water regulator:
If there is some water deposited in the Water Regulator, extra.
-Air Cleaning Equipment
OR
-Refrigerator Air Dryer
should be installed. It can minimise the probability of electrical parts damaged by the water.
5. Smoothness of air release process in the pneumatic system:
General speaking, each movement of printer was motivated by the pneumatic system.
The air comes from Silencer. If Silencer was blocked, the speed of movement of printer would
be slower. In this case, silence should be deposited into thinner for 2 hours for cleaning up
and then install it back or replace the part.
6. After each printing job or working day, workers have to handle the printer and all relevant
printing softwares carefully in good condition for the coming printing job or working day.

Open Ink Tray System:

- ink residue must be taken away from the ink tray.
- the ink on plate must be cleaned up with thinner and be coated with oil to avoid oxidisation.

Ink Cup System:

- ink cup must be unloaded from the plate (avoid chemical reaction between ink and plate)
- unloaded ink cup must be covered by the polymer plate cover.
(stop ink exposure to air - stabilize ink viscosity)
- the ink on plate must be cleaned up with thinner and be coated with oil to avoid oxidisation.
