The Criterions Of textbook


1. Goals of the course

One of the purpose of curriculum 2013 is to produce the young


generation wich productive,creative,innovative,and effective by the spitiyual
attitude and social,knowlage ,and integrative skill. Therefore,this book is set up
with give much of activites, so that the students always active to speak English.
By the activities,hopefull the students have
attitude,caring,honest,discipline,confidence self,responsibility,team
work,respect,active and peace love.

2. Background of The Students ( Age and Educational Background)

The book is intended for 11th students assumed tohave already learn
some basic English in their primary years. The book helps clarify difficult
subject and provide many information about the material needed. Meanwhile
the students have learned in 10 th grade about the similar material and get
benefit from reading and understanding textbook .

3. Language skill

Developing English Language for grade 11th comprises 4 chapters. Each


chapter consist of four skills, i.e. listening,reading,writing and speaking. This is
evident bfrom the exercises that are contained in this book. Students are
given the apportunity to practice those skills through the activities that are
included in this book. This book has materials that can be used as learning
material to improve the main skills of grade 11th students. Grammar review
focuses on a grammar structure in texts of a certain genre.
4. Quality of Practice Material
a. Exercise

English Language is an English textbook for Senior High school Grade


11th contains some exercises to omprove students knowlage about the
material that they have learned and relevant with the curriculum of 2013.
All activities are to be to controlled by the teacher to ensure that the
learning process efficient and correct.

 Listening Skill
The book cantains text wich will be read by the teacher at the
beginning of the listening part of the chapter. In every exercise in this book,
students are requested to complete sentences and/or answer question to
listen carefully to the following dialogue and study it.then practice it with
friend.
 Reading skill.
 The book contain all of reading exercises are relevant with the aims
of the material has bheen taught.
 In the term of type text: the exercises in “English Language” for
Senior High School Grade 11th ,are based on text type explained
before.
 Writing Skill
Students are given assignment to compose text in wich they practice
their writing skill. In every exercise in this book, every student is required
to pay attention to the following diary and answer the questions. Arrange
the following sentences into the correct order arrange thjem so they follow
a logical time orde and then use all the sentences to write the paragraph.
Exercises that are related to improving writing skills are dialogue
writing,completing sentences in statement,correctly writing requested
information .
 Speaking.
The book contains multiple speaking exercises wich allow students to use
English orslly. Learning dialogue, act them out with friends. During these
exercises, students learn how to ask friends opinion, gain friends attention,
give and respond.
b. Clarity of Directon

` The direction in this book is an English language textbook for


Senior High School Grade 11th for each exercises has explained clearly;
moreover , the book has made it simple for students and teachers to
understand the instructions of the materials and each of the exercises .

c. Active participation of Student


The material provides deeply and useful to solve assignment.
Meanwhile, al In this book, each material requires the students’
active participation, especially in the development of speaking and
writing skills. The materials are very interesting that equipped with
pictures in the materials. And then, the materials is little challenging
and stimulate the students until the students have more motivation
to learn the materials in textbook.
d. Grammatical And Linguistic Explanation

Grammatical is used to indicate that something relates to


grammar.The student’s needs are the knowledge about language and
skill to use language correctly. The textbook is appropriate to the
student’s need because it give knowledge about language such as
grammar and vocabulary and knowledge about how to use it. This
book provides grammatical review in the middle of activities.

e. Review
At the end of every chapter in this book, students are
requested to do a review material. The end of each chapter are asked
to make Project encourages student to perform a project to enhance
life skill.
5. Accompanying Materials
Accompanying materials help the teacher greatly in the conducting
the class. Such materials include pictures, and website address are
necessary to increase students’ interests in the learning process. This book
already contains some media such as pictures, poster and website address,
but it is important to add variety and interest to encourage student in
learning process.
6. Evaluation of the Textbook
The strengths of the book:

 The content of material is complete; it is consist of the four language


skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
 The content of the book is appropriate with syllabus guides and
outlines.
 This book has exercises to encourage students to learn.
 Textbook give illustration or picture to make student interest
