Thesis title
Phytochemical & Pharmacological Evaluation of Bangladeshi edible aquatic plants of
“Linderniaceae” family
Background
Lindernia comprises about 80-100 species, and occurs throughout the tropical and warm
regions of the world. They have been traditionally used in the treatment of many diseases for
a long time throughout the world. The aerial parts are widely used in poultices for boils, sores
and itches. Lindernia is also often used to treat dysentery and other intestinal problems. The
juice of the aerial parts of Lindernia crustacea, mixed with turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) and
heated with a little water, is applied to infected fingernails. In Peninsular Malaysia, a
decoction of the leaves is given after childbirth. But a few researches have been carried out
on their pharmacological activity.

Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) as standard.
Possible outcomes
These plants are still being used in different part of the world so effectively and their use is
also supported by some researchers. So I expect most positive outcomes from my
experiments to be done.
Conclusion
Lindernia includes a large number of species that are found to be effective in many diseases.
Some of their efficacy has been scientifically proved and some are yet to be proved. So I can
expect a positive result from this experiment and if I get so, I think that should be a crucial
one for medical world.
