Studio RM is the next generation of Datamine Studio products with improvements to interface, processing, visualization and more functionality.

The main elements of the Studio RM interface include the 3D View window, ribbons, command and object toolbars, navigation toolbar, combined sheets and loaded data control bar.

Ribbons in Studio RM are derived from a resource modelling workflow and replace old tool bars and menus, with tabs for functions like sample preparation, structure modelling, estimation etc.

Introduction: Studio RM

• Studio RM represents the next generation of the Datamine Studio family of products
• Resource modeling and mine geology domain specific
• Improvements to interface, processing and visualization technology and more
functionality
• New functions and processes
• Ribbons replace old tool bars and menus
• Replacement of Design window by the 3D window
• 64-bit support
• Processing and visualization improvements
• Fewer modules mean more functionality is in the core product
• Only Uniform Conditioning, Mineable Shape Optimizer and Point Hulling have separate
Licences

Improved Feedback and Information

3D Window
Messages and instructions
are now much more visible

Improved tooltips and

command descriptions

Quick keys work in the

3D window
Automatic recognition of more file types

More standard Datamine table types

are automatically recognised and
categorised in the project
Studio RM: Functionality
3D window – Lock View to mimic Design Window
3D window – Interactive Section Controls
External 3D Windows
Automatically Create Section Maps

Drag and drop in the 3D window now

supports:

georeferencing needs to be specified
Automatic Positioning of Georeferenced Images
You can now generate a georeferenced world file
automatically, based on the draped image
settings in the 3D window

<?xml version="1.0"?>
This file then gets used to automatically display
<Georeference> images in their correct location each time the

Studio RM: Processes
New Model Reblocking process

• REBLOCK Re-blocks a model to new X, Y and Z

parent cell sizes. The origin of the model
remains unchanged
• Optionally create a model containing only
parent cell sizes
• Useful for preparing model for strategic
planning
• Deals properly with dominant and additive
fields
• A replacement for the REGMOD process
New Swath Plot process

SWATHPLT create data files that are

suitable for automatically creating swath
plots in Studio or Excel
Updated Tonnes & Grade process
• TONGRAD has a new option to automatically
convert absent values in grade and density
fields to their default values

• New output files for fast generation of tonnage

grade curves
New Processes in Studio RM

• MODSPLIT: split a Datamine cell/subcell model using an input wireframe to create a new model
that is constrained by the wireframe
• Useful for creating mine planning and reserve models, e.g. from MSO output
• Deals properly with additive and dominant model attributes
• Much easier process than separately using TRIFIL, ADDMOD and EXTRA processes

• MIKSCELL: take a model created by Multiple Indicator Kriging (MIK) and convert it into a model that
is suitable for input to NPV Scheduler
Process Improvements

The following functions are much faster in Studio RM than Studio 3

• Merge-selected-strings
• Generate-outlines
• General 3D string editing (particularly with labels)
• TRIVAL and TRIVOL with verified wireframes
• Scatter plots / line charts with large amounts of data

Rotated Model Support

• The TRIVAL and TRIFIL can process rotated models automatically
• The new MODSPLIT processes detects rotated models automatically
Extended Precision Project Files

• Studio RM only creates extended precision project files (RMPROJ files)

• Single and extended precision data files will continue to be supported
Summit Data Management in Studio RM 1.1

Grants access to user’s Summit

portal to instantly transfer data to
and from the cloud
