1.1 Purpose
The researchers propose to research and produce a report on Smart Parking System to
help improving the parking space at student’s hostel area.
1.2 Background
As students know, parking issues in student’s college is the most popular and still
do not have any solution. Especially on every Wednesday, where there are night
market open in the parking area start at 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm. There are several
complaints that there are some of irresponsible students who double parked their
vehicles, on OKU parking and on speed bump. Therefore, the users experiencing
having trouble to move their vehicles. Besides, there is also students parked their car
in motorcycle area which would causing the path crowded.
The earliest vertical parking systems appeared in L.A., New York, and Chicago
in the 1920s. A system now found all over Japan, the “ferris wheel” or paternoster
system was invented by Westinghouse in 1923 and introduced in Chicago on Monroe
Street, between State and Dearborn. The huge number of car commuters to Chicago’s
Loop eventually meant the construction of countless parking garages and lots. But in
the meantime, the car elevator was seen as a modern, space-saving solution.
Therefore, the researchers would like to propose the use of Smart Parking in
student’s hostel area as an affective systematic parking system.
