Knapp’s Artists - It is hard to believe that we are halfway through the 2018-19 school year
already. From Ms. Brumwell: From here on out as your Knapp student completes works of art,
here at school, photos will be taken of the finished pieces and they will be uploaded to
Artsonia.com. You may have recently received an email and/or printed invitation to
participate. Artsonia.com is an online portfolio of your student’s art work. We have been very
busy in the Art Room. YOUNG FIVES & KINDERGARTEN has been learning how lines create
shapes, and how shapes can be turned into all sorts of things! They are making great progress
with their cutting and gluing skills. FIRST GRADE has been working with lines and patterns,
symmetry, and texture. SECOND GRADE has made an upcycled multimedia piece using
cardboard from lunch deliveries, scraps of construction paper from last year and sand found in
the back of the storage closet. THIRD GRADE has been working on a watercolor winter
landscape. Look for them to be coming home within January. FOURTH GRADE has been
exploring color and are finishing up their first couple watercolor paintings of the school year.
FIFTH GRADE has created paper snowflake sculptures that are hanging in the library area
making for a whimsical theme. MIDDLE SCHOOL is transitioning from two dimensional media to
three. Their ceramics unit was started right when we got back from holiday break. When you
have a chance please check out what Artsonia.com is all about and check back regularly to
view your student’s art portfolio.
