A Review on Digital India and Cyber Security

Abstract

Digital technologies are being increasingly used by us in everyday lives from retail stores to government offices. They help us to
connect with each other and also to share information on issues and concerns faced by us. In some cases they also enable
resolution of those issues in real time.Our aim is to achieve the vision of Digital India, where every Indian is digitally empowered
and every information is digitally available. Digitize India Platform offers an opportunity for government agencies to transform
themselves into digital enterprises and for Digital Contributors, rewards for doing simple data entry jobs. The objective of the
Digital India Group is to come out with innovative ideas and practical solutions to realise Honourable Prime Minister Narendra
Modi’s vision of a digital India. Prime Minister Modi envisions transforming our nation and creating opportunities for all citizens
by harnessing digital technologies and His vision is to empower every citizen with access to digital services, knowledge and
information. Lot of Company will come up with best policies and practices from around the world to make this vision of a digital
India in a reality.

1. Introduction

Digital India is an initiative taken by the by honourable Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 1July 2015 to ensure
that Government services are made available to citizens electronically by improved online infrastructure and by increasing
Internet connectivity or by making the country digitally empowered in the field of technology The initiative includes plans
to connect rural areas with high-speed internet networks and its main aim is “power to empower”.
This technology is structured on 9 pillar that is known as umbrella program and this program is coordinated by
Diet(Department of electronics and information technology)and chaired by Honourable Prime Minister of India.

2. Vision of digital India


For easy understanding vision of india (Umbrella Program) has been divided into three core sector.
2.1 Infrastructure & Utility:
Digital India program aim is to provide high speed safe and secure internet connection for individual citizen which
makes easy to access services.This contain three type of services such as:
i. Broadband Highways,
ii. Universal Access to Phone
iii. Public Internet Access
2.2 Governance and Service on demand:
Digital India Provide A single Platform For government and citizen. Which is helpful . for making effective
rule based on citizen need And Each citizen gets direct benefit and correct information from
government It Means Data can flow from Higher bureaucracy to individual citizen and its vice versa .
Digital India Makes a convenience route for ease of doing business. example of this sector is
i. E-Kranti – Electronic delivery of Services
ii. E-Governance
iii. Universal Information
2.3 Empowerment:
The vision of Digital India aims to transform the country into a digitally empowered society and
Knowledge economy. India attained independence from the foreign rules close to seven decades back. But, still The internal
independence is sought. Independence of expression and reaching out to the authorities appeared to be a distant dream until late
but now after the initiative called Digital India it seems no dream is too big.Reason behind this is Digital India provide universal
digital resources for universal literacy. Empowerment can standby improving three secor such as following
i. Electronics Manufacturing – Target NET ZERO Imports
ii. Job creation
iii. Early harvest Programme

3. Importance of Digital India


Digitize program in India play major for improving India Ranking In the world some Importance is explained
following:
3.1 Reducing Paper work:
This program help for reducing paper work and documentation.
3.2 Cashless Transaction:
Digital India provide platform for online transaction with secuirity.
3.3 Transparency;
All the data would be available online and will be accessible to each citizen.
3.4 GDP growth:
According to The Economic Times news the Digital India plan could boost GDP up to $1 trillion by 2025 Means This
Plan play key role for Improving GDP which would be helpful for productivity of the workers, growth in number of
businesses and employment generation.
4. Challenges for Digital India
4.1 High Level of Digital literacy:
According to World Economic Forum (WEF) 2016 report, nearly 33% of Indian population is functionally illiterate,
even one-third of youth do not attend secondary education.
4.2 Broadband connectivity to rural area:
There are vast differences in urban centers such as metropolitan cities and remote rural areas, where an even basic
service for example electricity is unavailable to run the Digital India program
4.3 Cyber crime:
India’s growing economy and digital push have caught the attention of hackers and an increasing wave of cyber attacks
could soon badly impact the country. India and other South Asian countries are now on the radar of cyber attackers.
The government and corporate world need to procure state.
4.4 Net neutrality:
Net neutrality is must and it is important to understand that digital India without net neutrality would be a great blow to
entrepreneurs and citizens of India. India is a diversified country, in terms of language, culture, laws which vary from
states to states. Complete integration, that is integration of technology and language, is one of the main challenges.
5. Technology
The government and corporate world need to procure state-of-the-art, New Age security solutions to thwart their plans.
It is not only a technological question but also deals with the question of privacy and security. The biggest challenge
faced by ‘Digital India’ is the slow and delayed infrastructure development .
