CORPORATE TRAINING PROGRAM

(ADVANCED PROCESS DESIGN & SIMULATION)

This course is designed for process engineers who want to learn process calculations - its basis,
methodology and process drawings & documents.

The training starts with some background knowledge about the process engineering and process
engineer’s role in the industry. Sizing calculations are undoubtedly the most crucial part of a
process engineer’s job profile. We spend majority of our training time imparting our knowledge
about process calculations to the participants. We teach them how to do the sizing in a
professional way and we make sure they how learn how to do the same, so that they can do it
themselves.

Participants shall also be provided with hands on training on Aspen HYSYS V10 for doing the
sizing calculations.

SYLLABUS
Session 1 Control Valve sizing using Excel and Aspen HYSYS
Session 2 Pressure safety valve sizing using Excel and Aspen HYSYS
Session 3 Line sizing using Excel and Aspen HYSYS
Pump sizing using Excel and Aspen HYSYS
Separator sizing as per API 12J
Session 4 Orifice sizing using Excel and Aspen HYSYS
Session 5 Heat exchanger sizing using EDR
Distillation column sizing using Aspen HYSYS
Depressuring utility using Aspen HYSYS
Flare system design using Aspen Flare System Analyzer
Session 6 Students shall carry out Aspen HYSYS simulation of a real project (industry
problem).
Students shall carry out process calculations for the same project using their own
Session 7 spreadsheets prepared earlier in the course.
Students shall prepare PFD and P&ID (from the scratch) for the same project.
Session 8 Students shall be taught about how to prepare typical Process documents (PDB,
OCP, Line List, PDS, Simulation report etc.).
