Abstract
This paper is a narrative of why I chose this profession. Experiences that have inspired me to
chose this profession. Explaining my own teaching philosophy and how my knowledge and
historical events will help to teach other children. Brief summary of my field observation and
what I learned as well as what I can implement once I have my own classroom. Lastly, I have a
plan for my future along with some goals and specific steps to become a teacher.
PERSONAL PHILOSPHY OF EDUCATION 3
Many do not find the profession of teaching acceptable. One will always be discouraged
from choosing this profession. I first wanted to become a teacher when I was around the age of
10. I did end up changing my mind around the age of 14 to become a doctor, which was
encouraged by y family. By the age of 17 I went back to wanting to become a teacher, which my
parents were not so pleased with my decision but that did not stop me. Since I was young I
always wanted younger siblings so that I can take care of them and be a role model to them. I
enjoy talking to my little cousins and helping them on their homework. I always loved to read so
when I am with them I read to them and since I do not like being inside, most of the time, I take
them to the park and enjoy being with them. The best part is since I am with them and helping
them on their schoolwork or answer any of there questions it feels great when I can hear their
speech improve. To this day I remember my kindergarten teacher, she is the type of teacher I
inspire to be. She was kind to us, but also to the parents, on the other hand she could be strict and
taught us well. I know that I want to teach little kids in hope that they can achieve their dreams
and enjoy learning. During my field observation I noticed that many students have already given
up on their education. I hope I will be able to encourage my students to continue with their
students learn better when they can relate back to their own experience. It helps them remember
a certain material and refer back to it. This can also go hand-in-hand with progressivism where it
focuses more on child-centered teaching rather than teacher-content focus. It seems nowadays

especially in high school settings many teachers use both of these philosophical beliefs in their
classrooms. At the moment there have been a lot of violence and threats that make think about
how our future students can be. Many say that time changes but we always go back hopefully by
the time I am teaching we do not have to talk about gun violence at schools.
During my field observation they do eValuate a program from Catapult learning, which is an
assessment on math and reading and they do this monthly to see if the students improve and this
lets the school know where the students are in their academics. Besides this I will also teach
students of different cultures and people who are important in their history. I know that if I chose
to do groups or tables in my classroom I will arrange them with diverse people. I will also
assignments, so they can learn that they need to work together as a team but sometimes it is
College of Southern Nevada (CSN) by fall 2019. Many of my courses at CSN will have me do
field observation as will as community services, each time I will be able to learn something new.
I will need to complete my praxis exams after courses at CSN. Then I will transfer to a 4-year
institution like Utah Valley University to get my bachelors degree. I plan to volunteer at schools
to get more experience of how teachers, parents and students interact with each other on a daily
basis. I also plan to become a substitute teacher to gain more in class experience. Hopefully I
