Guidelines For Project Report
Two copies of the project report (one for the project advisor and one for the exam panel) is to be
submitted on the evaluation day. The corrections, if any, suggested by the panel members at the time
of oral examination will have to be incorporated in the project report before the final submission. The
report should be hard bound. A soft copy of the project report in PDF Format on a Compact Disc
(CD) needs to be submitted to the department.
One and a half line spacing should be used for the text. The text shall be justified in Font style ‘Times
New Roman’ and a Font size of ‘12’.
Heading should be bold in Font style ‘Times New Roman’ using a Font size of ‘14’.
Subheading should be bold in Font style ‘Times New Roman’ using a Font size of ‘12’.
While preparing the report set the left margin to 1.5”, right, top and bottom margin to 1”.
The sequence in which the project report material should be arranged and bound is as
follows:
3. PREPARATION FORMAT
Covering page and Title page format should be as per the format attached herewith.
Students should acknowledge the help and guidance received from those who helped in the
successful completion of their project. Any financial support received from funding agencies
should be stated.
Declaration by the student format should be as per the format attached herewith.
Certificate by the project guide should be as per the format attached herewith.
Table of contents should list the chapter headings, sections and subsections of the chapters
along with page numbers.
Abstract should be an extraction of the project report; a concise description of the problem
addressed and the method of analysis, followed by results, discussion and conclusions. The
abstract must be self-contained. The number of words may be limited to 500 not exceeding
two pages.
The symbols should be arranged in the following order- Greek symbols, English lower case
letters, English upper case letters (in an alphabetical order).
The abbreviations should be arranged in an alphabetic order.
The number and captions of the figures (eg: Fig 1. Logo of MPSTME) with page numbers
should be listed. Centre-align the figures in the project report. The title of the figure should
be provided below the figure.
The tables should be Centre-aligned (eg: Table1. List of students in MPSTME). The title of
the table should be provided above the table.
The pages from the first page of the first chapter (Introduction) should be numbered in Arabic
numerals 1, 2, center aligned. The section heading should follow ‘1.1’ and the sub-section by
‘1.1.1’ should be left-aligned.
Main body of the project report should include detailed description of the work performed.
This may be divided into 3 to 4 Chapters with suitable titles, such as Literature Review,

Methodology, Analysis Techniques, Experimental Setup, Conclusion & Future scope.
Appendices can be provided to give extra information, regarding the project. Appendices
should be numbered using Roman numerals, e.g. Appendix I, Appendix II, etc. Appendix I
should contain the ABET assessment criteria satisfaction table as per the format attached
herewith.
The list of references should be kept in an alphabetical order in single spacing left-justified
format. References should be numbered consecutively (in square [1] brackets), throughout
the text and should be collected together in the reference list at the end of the project report.
The reference citation should follow IEEE format.
