ASSIGNMENT SCENARIO AND GUIDANCE

SCENARIO

Globalization
The OECD defines globalization as the following. ‘’The geographic dispersion of industrial and service activities, for example
research development, sourcing of factor inputs, production and distribution, and the cross –border networking of companies,
for example through joint ventures and the sharing of assets.’’
The key implications of globalization for business include:
• increasing trade across borders of goods and services,
• increasing levels of labor migration between countries,
• the emergence of global brands,
• greater outsourcing and offshoring of production,
• expansion of foreign direct investment.

Globalization has also led to increasing competition and an economic and financial shift from developing to emerging economies.
It promotes a sense of cultural awareness, international co-operation and global economic inter-dependency. Those
multinational companies that are successful have had to devise and customize new strategies for doing business in emerging
markets and implement new business models to stay ahead of the competition.

Select a multinational company and explain how it improves the recruitment, selection and training of its employees to meet
international requirements.
TASK 1
Choose a multinational company and justify the selection of the organisation in a brief “Business Overview” includingmission,
vision, history, key activities, competitors, CSR goals, recent achievements of the company and Unique Selling Point (USP) and fill
the Business Model Canvass (template provided). Based on this, establish the aims and objectives for the project.
Produce a “Project Management Plan” that covers aspects of cost, scope, time, quality, communication, risk and resources.

Produce aMilestone Schedule(work breakdown structure)with a Gantt chartto provide timeframes and stages for completion.
Follow it up and reflect on it in the Logbook.

PRODUCE A COMPREHENSIVE PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN, MILESTONE SCHEDULE AND PROJECT SCHEDULE FOR MONITORING AND COMPLETING THE AIMS AND
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT.

1. Abstract

- Introduction to research area

- Research aim and purpose

- Type of methodology used for research

- Research findings (briefly/general)

- Any ethical issues in research

- Research limitation

2. Introduction

- background information on the topic or a brief comment leading into the subject matter i.e. globalization

- research aim/purpose

- research paper structure

3. Literature Review

- give detailed background study based on previous authors work about globalization

- critically analysethe literature by providing different work by different authors

- use the information about the company in discussion

4. Research Methodology

- Type of research methodology used

- Method of survey used

- Actual data about survey conduction

5. Interview questions related to the topic

- The research findings

- Tables, charts and illustrations (optional)

7. Recommendations

9. acknowledgements

10. Limitations of research

Conduct secondary research on how globalisation has affected multinational companies, their recruitment, selection and training
process and how they are improving to meet international requirements of HR, document it as Literature Review in your report.
Conduct small-scale primary research on your selected organisation on similar grounds using both qualitative and quantitative
methods.

Use secondary research to provide a context to conduct and interpret primary data collection. Compare the information/data
yielded by the project with the findings of secondary research. Analyse the data using appropriate tools and techniques. Collect
Primary data by visiting the organization and collecting data on how globalisation has affected human resource activity
(recruitment, selection and training process) and what measures they are taking to meet the international requirements of HR.
Use research tools like observation, survey or in-depth interviews for data collection from organizations.

Based on your research and data analysis, communicate appropriate and realistic recommendations to draw valid and meaningful
conclusions:
a. How has globalisation positively contributed to human resource activity of multinational companies?
