B. Educational Qualifications
I currently have 34 years of fulfilling and rewarding teaching experience. I have had the
pleasure of teaching students between the ages of 12 to 18 years old. The role of the teacher
is multifaceted, with the principal role being to plan, organize and implement appropriate
instructional programs in a learning environment that fosters the fulfillment of the students’
academic potential. The main responsibilities and duties that I’ve fulfilled over the course of
my teaching career include the following:
- plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
for my students
- provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
- identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet my students’
varying needs
- use relevant technology to support instruction
- observe and evaluate my students’ performance and development
- assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments
- provide appropriate feedback, encourage and monitor my students’ progress
- maintain accurate and complete records of my students’ progress and development
- communicate necessary information regularly to my students, colleagues and parents
regarding student progress and student needs
- manage student behavior and maintain discipline in the classroom in accordance with the
rules, procedures and disciplinary systems of the school
- perform additional duties including student support, counseling with academic and
emotional problems and referrals to mental health programs and community resources
- keep updated with developments in my subject area, teaching resources and methods and
make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities

be a positive influence and role model, an inspiration for learning, as well as a credible

My most current educational undertaking has been to obtain a TESL Certificate with the
intention of expanding my teaching experience and qualifications to include teaching
English to new Canadians or working abroad. I completed an M.Ed. in Counselling
Psychology in 2017, from the University of British Columbia, which had been a life-long
dream. This is my proudest academic accomplishment to date. In addition to a B.Ed from
the University of Alberta (Faculte St Jean) I have also completed additional courses in
psychology, sociology, theology, history, anthropology and Spanish, as an unclassified
student at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, AB) and Okanagan College (Kelowna,
BC). Over the course of my teaching career I’ve attended professional inservices,
workshops, courses, seminars and activities dealing with a wide range of topics
