*“Yes” and “No” are not commonly used on their own in Chinese. “Yes” is
usually expressed by repeating the verb. The negative is expressed by putting
bù (boo) or méi (may) in front of verbs and adjectives.

The Chinese word for month is yuè (yuu-eh). Yuè is used when naming or
listing the months, and rì (ree) is used when giving dates. The names of the
months consist of the appropriate number plus yuè—in other words, yī (one)
plus yuè (month) equals January.
