This course seeks to provide students with a thorough understanding of the
workings of the economy. It also aims to give an appreciation of basic economic
concepts that are covered in Microeconomics, and International Economics essential
to both business and non-business majors. Topics included, among others,
economic theories and principles, income distribution and poverty, and globalization
and international trade. As mandated by law, Cooperatives, Agrarian Refrom and
Taxation are also included.

Basic Skills in Mathematics and Statistics esp. Graphical and Chart Analysis
Fundamental Knowledge in Political Science
Basic Concepts in Sociology/Sociological Perspectives

COURSE EXPECTATIONS:
At the end of the course, the student are expected to:
1. Apply the perspective and methodology of economics and their distinctive
contributions to the study of social phenomena and alleviation of the human
condition.
2. Identify and discuss economic indicators used in analyzing the performance
of economy, use these indicators to understand and appreciate Philippine
economy, its policies, and programs of the government.
3. Use graphs, charts and other economic analytical tool in written expositions
and reports.
