Letter of Motivation

My name is Muhammad Zaid Hassan. I am national of Pakistan. I have done my Bachelors of Science in
Electronics from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology and I belong to a business family. My
father is running a textile business from last four decades. I have three extremes in my lifestyle first one
is Entrepreneurship second is automation and last but not least is social work. Entrepreneurship and
business are in my blood, Automation is my passion and social work or philanthropist is my talent I
spend a major portion of earned money into the service of humanity. In the coming five years I have a
plan to make two companies one is of automation and the second is foundation or trust to help the
needy.

I have completed my high school education and college studies from my birth city Faisalabad and
scored 71% in school and 57% in college which is not good enough on a whole I am an average student
and spend all my time to create new ideas, takes risks and try to be an entrepreneur. I started my
graduate studies in 2012 and choose electronics. I moved to Islamabad to attend my university and had
a great experience of hostel life. From childhood I have a keen interest in electronics I wonder how
remote control works, how machine works automatically, how robots assemble cars. In the second year
of University, I attend British Council Active Citizen workshop after this workshop my purpose of life
totally changed and I derive the cause of my existence. From 2014 to onwards I started thinking about
“how I can help the community and how I benefit the Society.

I scored 2.43/4 CGPA with 67% marks in my university studies I have a good command on programming
subjects which includes embedded systems and real time systems analysis I take a keen interest in the
programming of PLCs and microcontrollers. I have completed many electronics hobby projects like
traffic signal controller, water level detector, and automatic street light controller. My project in the
final year was “Machine Monitoring system “I choose a real time industry problem and eradicate it. The
basic functionality of this application is it records all the parameters of machine i.e. RPM, Total run/Stop
time, Efficiency and output using sensors network and shows all these parameters on a computer screen
using SCADA and make reports monthly or daily. I got the first position in the final year project open
house and instead of running after a job I started working on this application and develop it to meet the
industry standards. Now after one year of my university I reached a point where I install that application
in two small sized Industries and it is working fine. Pakistan is on the list of under developed countries
that why we have old models manufacturing machines in our industry and in my future plans I will build
an automation company which will help me to implement all technical skills and knowledge of
automation and it will make my dreams come true. Unfortunately, dry or theoretical subjects are my
weak points in my degree I have a series of dry subjects like heat and thermodynamics, quantum
mechanics, electromagnetic theory and digital signal processing. I perform better in practical subjects.

I made a research regarding the foreign universities with the aim of selecting the most suitable
destination for the study. I decided not to choose continental Europe owing to the language barrier. I
think it is not a good decision to put aside one’s education and start learning a new language. I short
listed four English speaking countries, which included the UK, Australia, Canada and USA. However, after
careful research and consultation with my seniors and teachers, I decided to choose Australia. Australian
Universities impart quality education at a lower cost as compared to the world. In fact, Australian is a
pioneer in the field of education. The education in Australia is generally recognised for conducive
environment for imparting quality education. The faculty of the institutions is highly qualified and has
extensive experience of research. I will have the opportunity to learn from expert and qualified teachers
who will provide a thorough understanding of my selected field. I will be able to nurture academic skills
which will inculcate in me the ability to learn and think creatively, which will be definitely an edge over
my competitors.

Moreover, Australia is known for its multicultural environment. The Australians have been known for
their friendly and co-operative behaviour. Furthermore, Australia is one of the leading countries of the
world especially in fields of Technology, science and business. The graduates of the Australian
universities are working in top positions all over the globe. Australia is a place which beside
modernisation still preserves and holds many ancient cultures and civilisations including Aboriginal
Culture. The unique flora and fauna & Australian Outback add to its beauty. Australia is home to people
from over 190 countries. This exposure will bestow me an opportunity to interact with students from
across the world and compare myself with them as a student as well as an individual. I'll learn to work as
a team, to communicate effectively with others that will help me a lot in my future life.

It is interesting to state here that courses with similar titles are offered here in Pakistan in public and
private sector, but their quality of education and worth in the job market is minimal. It is partially owing
to the provided quality of education, but there is also a psyche of our students as well as employers to
rank the foreign qualified professionals higher than the locally qualified people. Very few institutes
offering quality education in Pakistan have very limited spaces and their fees are comparatively same as
international education providers. Therefore, one should make a wise decision of studying in Australia
to get international exposure along with highly regarded qualifications.

After completing my course in Australia, I have strong intentions of coming back to my home country to
achieve my goals for which I studied this course. The international graduates are warmly welcomed in
my country and they have much higher rates of obtaining a position in a multi-national or government
firm.
