The document talks about the functionality and main tasks of Core Interface (CIF) which is used for transferring master and transactional data between SAP ECC and APO systems.

The different types of data transferred between ECC and APO include material, plant, work center, recipe/BOM, routing from ECC and product, location, resource, PPM/PDS from APO.

The different modes of data transfer between ECC and APO include direct/immediate transfer and periodic scheduled transfer. Change pointers can also be used for incremental data transfer.

Functionality of APO CIF:

ERP system provides planning data for the APO system, whereas products are planned in the APO
system and planning results are sent back to ECC system.

This transaction is done for master data and transactional data using functionality called as CIF.

Results can be sent from APO to ECC in 2 ways

 Directly (Immediate)
 Periodically (Scheduled)

Main tasks of CIF –

 Determination of the source and target system

 Provide the APO with relevant master data
 Transfer of data changes
 Return of planning result from APO.

It also provides –

 Which data to be transferred between the systems (There is an order in which models should be
processed)
 Techniques for initial, incremental and real time data transfer
 Alerting and monitoring tools to supervise CIF data

Model and Version –

Active model is always – 000

Active version is always – 000

Types of data –

ECC- Material, Plant, Work Center, Recipe or BOM and routing

APO – Product, Location, Resource, PPM or PDS.

Few data is global and few data is location specific.

When we transfer the location, it is transfer as a APO location.

Production->DRP->Basic Settings->Maintain assignment of node type plant

If there is GR time is used, then handling resource can be assigned to location master for proper
scheduling.

Resource can come as

 Bucket Resource (SNP) -> Time Intervals, Available time capacity based on time interval (Not order
based but based on intervals like daily, weekly or monthly)
 Single & Multi Activity (PPDS)-> Time continuous (Order based)
 Single Mixed and Multi Mixed (SNP/PPDS) ->Time intervals, time continuous (CFC9)

In the resource master –Planning parameters need to be set for individual.

– We can set it in one go through table /SAPAPO/RESLCT

SAP APO Change pointers can be used to transfer data from SAP APO to SAP ECC incrementally instead
of interactively. /n/sapapo/c5

Integration Model –

Segregate objects through increased number of integration models

Create Models and activate model through right sequencing

Master data models –

 Location
 Products
 Resources
 PPM/PDS

Transaction Data Models

 Stocks (All types)

 Sales orders
 Purchase orders/Requisitions
 Planned Orders
 Forecasts (PIR)

Parallelize processing
Activation Model

Tips – Don’t have a single object as a part of two different models.

Full activation via overnight job and delta for daily activation.

SAP APO and ECC can be synced with transaction CFP2 after quick delta changes to master data.

CIF Customizing in ECC and SCM -

The IMG consists of three main areas:

 Basic Settings for Creating the System Landscape

Here you can find all the IMG activities that are necessary for the partner systems to be able to
communicate with one another via CIF. This includes naming logical systems, naming an RFC
destination, and making qRFC settings.

 Basic Settings for the Data Transfer

Here you can find all the IMG activities that are necessary for the data transfers, that is, the initial
data transfer and change transfers.

 Application-Specific Settings and Enhancements

Here you can find customer exits, Business Add-Ins (BAdIs), and settings for individual applications.

Settings in SCM APO –

If your SCM system is SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization, in the SAP Reference IMG,
choose Integration with SAP Components Integration via Core Interface (CIF). If you work with a
different SCM system, in the SAP Reference IMG, choose SCM Basis Integration.

In case of more than two ERP systems, different BSG groups need to be created for two different ERP
systems.
