Case study

On

Child care
Jenna is an eight-year-old class three student and was praised to have outstanding performance

in her school, be it curricular or extra-curricular activities. At the age of six, she faced a tragic

incident due to which she suffered post tragic disorders like anxiety, depression, emotional

instability etc. After this incident there was a drastic change in her behaviour and also, her

interest towards study reduced significantly. She started forgetting things which was learnt in

previous standards. Even, she started ignoring the optional homework which she has liked the

most. This study will point out behavioural characteristics shown by people suffering from

these cases and will also focus on the strategic methods and steps needed to be followed to take

care of Jenna and helping her to come out from this situation.

Depression and anxiety is an ailment that can influence a person’s capacity to work, think

about, interface with companions, or deal with themselves. Indications of gloom may include:

trouble dozing or dozing excessively, hunger changes, pulling back from taking an interest in

exercises once delighted in, sentiments of misery, sadness, despondency, and trouble focusing

on school work. Shame related with dysfunctional behaviour, can be a noteworthy boundary to

looking for treatment. Mental health influences individuals everything being equal, including

children and young people (Elder, 2018). These days, depression, anxiety, emotional instability

and other mental health related concern among school going children and youngsters is winding

up progressively. Kids and young people with real burdensome issue are significantly more

prone to end it all. Wretchedness in school going kids and matured people is genuine and it is

a major issue that very frequently goes unnoticed. The most widely recognized side effects of

sadness are feeling useless, on edge, unfilled, bothered, sad, loss of enthusiasm for exercises,

diversions, or connections, diminished delight in day by day exercises, failure to appreciate

exercises which used to be the wellsprings of joy, change in hunger, constant trouble in nodding

off or staying unconscious, trouble in concentrating or deciding (Bernstein et al., 2018).

Dejection likewise includes blame and self-analysis, which can be identified with misfortune

amid adolescence. Outrage or antagonistic vibe might be aimed at guardians in the event that

they don't give the kid the affection and warmth that is required for sound improvement.

Nonetheless, these ruinous sentiments are turned inwards and the kid reprimands itself for the

misfortune, which prompts blame and self-analysis. Children and youths are lesser flexibility

and are more prone to get affected by any type of social or incident happening within their

family. Any tragic incident faced by them can easily cause a deep impact over their mind (Zhu,

et al., 2019). In any case, a more critical look draws an unquestionable and progressively awful

representation of why children are enduring. Uneasiness and sorrow in secondary school

children have been on the ascent since 2012 following quite a while of security. It's a marvel

that cuts over all socioeconomics - rural, urban and rustic; the individuals who are school

destined and the individuals who aren't. Misery results from a mind boggling cooperation of

social, mental and natural components. Individuals who have experienced unfriendly life

occasions (joblessness, loss, mental injury) are bound to create sorrow. Depression can, thusly,

lead to more pressure and brokenness and intensify the influenced individual's life

circumstance and dejection itself (Simmons et al., 2015). There are interrelationships among

melancholy and physical wellbeing. For instance, cardiovascular infection can prompt

dejection and the other way around. Anticipation projects have been appeared to diminish

misery. Viable people group ways to deal with counteract discouragement incorporate school-

based projects to upgrade an example of constructive reasoning in kids and youths. Mediations

for guardians of kids with conduct issues may diminish parental burdensome side effects and

improve results for their kids. Exercise programs for the older can likewise be successful in

wretchedness counteractive action. Just as influencing how children feel, nervousness can

affect their reasoning. They see the dread or threat they're stressed over to be a lot more

noteworthy than it really is. Contemplating the circumstance make those children progressively
conscious and tensed. Children suffering from these symptoms generally prefer to live within

their own primitive environment and any change in it can make them feel disturbed and

annoyed (Chaurasia et al., 2015).

This frequently includes attempting to maintain a strategic distance from the circumstance or

having a parent or other grown-up arrangement with it for them. These are the factors which

has led emphasis on the need to have a well-defined and effective strategic planning to deal

with such cases while focussing on providing needs, care and support to the children.

Uneasiness can likewise result in physical indications, for example, restlessness, looseness of

the bowels, stomach hurts and migraines (now and again alluded to as substantial grievances).

Different side effects may incorporate touchiness, difficulty concentrating and tiredness. Thus,

a proper implementation of strategies is needed to help Jenna in coming out from traumatic

condition and once again start living her normal life. Some of the strategies and care needed to

be taken care of by her teachers and school staffs include providing social support in improving

both mental and physical wellbeing (Chou et al., 2015).

Strategic methods and Ways to support such students

Schools and teachers help children in developing knowledge, morale, skills and the most

important, they assist in character building of children from early age which will enable them

to face difficulties and challenges in leading their life. Finding new and attracting methods and

ways to deal will difficult situation and enabling students to face and fight with such at their

own is the key. Most of the students suffering from anxiety, depression and emotional

instability finds it very difficult to engage themselves in activities, controlling their general

conduct and a little support from their teachers and staff members can do a lot for them. Thus,

a proper strategic plan is required to be chosen and followed for achieving these objectives.

Providing social and moral support to make them feel safer, helping them with their home

works, trying to give minimum pen and paper based task and more involvement into practical
situations to encourage them in facing any situation (Sanchez et al., 2015). Being flexible with

normal conduct and policies applicable on such students, and the impact of their misconduct

or behave should not be counted for grading or assessment purposes are some of the strategic

care which will help, motivate and enable children suffering from such cases to regain their

normal state. School going children are more chronic to any kind of disturbance and any such

disturbing even can create a deep impact on their mind. And, teenagers suffering from such

mental issues finds it very difficult to go to school, perform their daily task as per routine

because of lack of confidence. In such situations, teachers generally have an increased

responsibility to take care and interact with those students to know what’s happening or what

they feel about it. While interacting with such children, a proper care is to be taken to make

these students feel safe so that they can express their concern and fear which needs to be taken

care of. Apart from teachers and other school staffs, parents or family members can also have

a big role in helping their children to get normal (Ishikawa et al., 2016). A proper

communication between teachers and the family members of these children will help in better

implementation of helping and caring strategies and thus, will lead to speedy recovery and

improved morale.

Conclusion and recommendations

Thus from the above study and findings, it can be stated that teachers can play a big role in

helping Jenna to get rid from sufferings causing depression, anxiety, emotional instability and

helping her in getting rid from these mental issues. Proper implementation of strategic plans

will help Jenna in forgetting the tragic past and will compel her to live and enjoy in present.

Apart from such strategic plans, a proper care and support environment is also needed to during

this period to help her in going through all these processes. Also, parents know their ward better

than any other, they have a better perspective and idea about likes and dislikes, interests, skills

and expertise of their child. Hence a regular communication as well as meetings can help in
choosing and implementing better practices at home and school to ensure maximum care and

support is provided to those students.
