Fault List of Unit-I

EMD-I

1. Mill F hot gate have passing leading to rise in mill inlet dust temperature.
2. CEP-C discharge valve is not closing from DCS.
3. HAH20AA101MA boiler roof inlet header drain is not operating from DCS.
4. Re heater start up vent motorized valve LBB71AA101MA is found damaged
on site.
5. ST PMCC bus coupler in fault
6. CW return pipe valve knob (for local & remote) is broken.
7. LBG41AA001 valve –PRDS to CND system is in fault.
8. Light may be provided on stairs from 13 mtr. to 17 mtr. for boiler site.
9. Lights at support bearing should always be ON 24 Hrs as there is darkness
there round the clock and any accident may occur due to this.
10. Valve LBR11AA00A extraction 4 to TDBFP –A limits should be reset.
11. Baring gear motor current not displayed on DCS system correctly.
12. Following valves in fault:
(i) LBG42AA001 PRDS to APH soot blower
(ii) HCB31AA001 air to APH Soot blower

Civil

(i) Heavy water logging occurs on ESP field roof in rainy season.
(ii) Raw water tank level gauge is not legible.
(iii) Seepage of water observed from raw water panel room’s roof.
C&I-I

1. Auxiliary steam to oil system motorized valve LBG41AA001 has C&I problem,
as it does not take command from DCS.
2. The motorized valve PGA41AA001 is showing local on DCS. It was referred
to EMD. The problem was found to be of C&I feedback, please check.
3. #4 extraction NRV LBQ40AA702, feedback problem.
4. LTSH drains HAH41AA101MA & HAH41AA102MA have feedback problem.
5. Boiler roof inlet header drain HAH20AA101MA has feedback problem.
6. The four level transmitters of boiler drum have considerable difference in
readings. (752, 447.5, 187.1, 446.9)
7. Hot & cold PA flow transmitters of following mills are showing valves which
indicate, they need flushing.

8. LDO atomizing air pressure control valve when closed (0%) the pressure at
outlet side does not come down from 7.5kg/cm2. Either the valve has passing or
the pressure transmitter HJN10CP201 & HJN10CP202 needs flushing.
9. The LDO header inlet flow control valve HJF31AA101MA has feedback in
CAL.
10. HDP202A left furnace DP (wind box) is in CAL.
11. Mill F hot air gate have passing, leads to rise in outlet dust temperatures.
12. Fine tuning of spray valves in super heater & re heater system required as
temp. are not controlled in auto mode.
13. Heater for lube oil tank of ID/FD system does not auto cut on high temp. it has
feedback problem also.
14. Following valves have problems :
15. MAA12AA701- fault
16. MAA11AA701- fault
17. LBA32AA701- fault
18. LBR11AA701- fault
19. Digital gauges at LDO/HFO day tank/Main Tank site may be installed for tank
levels. Calibrations of various gauges installed at these sites needs to be
done.
20. LDO flow meter installed at 17mtr. Boiler needs recalibration.
21. APH-A & B spot bearing temp. gauge broken.
22. BCP-A, B, C cooling water temp. gauge not installed/missing
23. Scanners of Coal mills are permanently out of service
24. The feedback of coal in T/H of feeder D are not as per command on DCS.
(i) Command = 45T/H feedback= 50T/H
25. Sealing air pressure of coal mill D & F are in CAL
26. The value of Service air pressure on DCS is not available.
27. Baring gear motor current not displayed on DCS system correctly.
28. Seal air fan-A outlet gate is in fault.
29. The feedback of cold air regulating valve of Mill-F is not as per command
given.
(i) Command : 85% feedback102.6%
30. The following pressure transmitters does not show any valve on DCS:-
(i) Re heater de super heater inlet pressure (L)- LBC71CP201
(ii) Re heater de super heater inlet pressure ®- LBC72CP201
(iii) Super heater de super heater water pressure- LAE21CP201
(iv) Boiler soot blowing drain water temp. – HCB52CT001
31. The SADC feedback for almost every level of coal & oil firing system are not
as per the command. Many values are in CAL.
32. Thrust bearing temperature of following mills have at least one valve in CAL
I. MILL-B HFC20CT014
II. MILL-C HFC30CT013
III. MILL-D HFC40CT012
33. Shaft bearing temperature of following mills have at least one valve in CAL
(i) MILL-C HFC30CT016
34. There is difference in the command & feedback of hot air control valve of
following mills:-
(i) Mill-A: Command- 52% feedback 50.6%
(ii) Mill-B: Command-55% feedback-52.9 %
(iii) Mill-D: Command-50% feedback-40.1%
(iv) Mill-E: Command-32% feedback-29.6%
35. Passing of hot air is observed in the following mils ever when hot shut off gate
& hot air control valves are in closed condition. In order to control the mill inlet
temperature we have to open the cold air valve (5% to 15%).
(i) Mill-F: inlet temp.= 94.5*C Cold air opened = 5%
(ii) Mill-G : inlet temp.= 101.8*C Cold air opened= 5%
(iii) Mill-H : inlet temp.= 133.4*C Cold air opened = 15%
36. Following drain valves are in fault condition & do not operate from DCS.
(i) Main steam drain valve LBA33AA701
(ii) Main steam pipe drain valve ® LBA32AA701
(iii) HIP inner cylinder drain MAA13AA701
(iv) Hot reheat pipe drain valve (L) LBB31AA701
(v) TDBFP-A drain valve (2) XAE11AA701
(vi) Flash tank de super heater water valve LCE17AA701.
(vii) Flash tank de super heater water valve LCE18AA701
(viii)
TGM-I

1. Following drain valves are in fault condition & do not operate from DCS.
I. Main steam drain valve LBA33AA701
II. Main steam pipe drain valve ® LBA32AA701
III. HIP inner cylinder drain MAA13AA701
IV. Hot reheat pipe drain valve (L) LBB31AA701
V. TDBFP-A drain valve (2) XAE11AA701
VI. Flash tank de super heater water valve LCE17AA701.
VII. Flash tank de super heater water valve LCE18AA701
BMD-I

1. Leakage in NRV of BCP purging common source line at corner no.4


(31mtr).
2. Drop wise leakage of oil from gear box of main motor of APH-A.
3. Ash deposited over guide bearing of APH-A and it falls on guide bearing.
4. Grating is missing/not proper on way towards guide bearing of APH-A &
create safety problem while checking oil level.
5. Flue gas/Air leakage from APH-B near main motor and near guide bearing
from APH-A.
6. Flame observation glass on firing floors/Elevations are mostly choked and
flame not observable.
7. Hand wheel of many root valves on atomizing drain lines at 27 mtr. & 0
mtr. are missing.

Suggestions: -

1. Stairs may please be provided to go directly to guide bearing from


guide bearing oil pumps as provided in Unit-II. It will help in checking
guide bearing as well as oil pumps in one go.

2. Fire hydrant may be provided on feeder floors too as there are many
instances when there is fire in feeders due to Coal and hoses are not so
long to approach there. (Suggested by CISF)
