Autodesk Revit is a Microsoft Windows Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology that
empowers the customer to construct parametric layout aspects. Revit is used by designers, landscape
architects, and structural engineers to design a 3D model and access building information from building
model’s information. Revit is used in various divisions like Architecture, Construction, Engineering, and
Manufacturing.

What is Building Information Modelling (BIM)?


BIM helps to build and operate 3D building data during its development process. BIM begins, from
generating 3D models and goes through the complete lifecycle of the project which comprises document
management, coordination and simulation works. BIM is a complicated multi-phase method that
collects data from a group of team members to model the parts and instruments that will be used to

engineer's machine design activity.
2. Problem Definition: Definition of the problem involves a through the specification of the item to be
designed.
3. Synthesis: During this phase, different preliminary concepts are created in the design phase by
researching comparable products or designs in use.

customizable. The software does not have a user-friendly document management tool, which is the

models, construction sketches, CAD features, and elevations for residential home design projects.
6. Solid works: For 3D sketchers who require CAD software with multiple features for detailed design
work, Solid works 3D CAD software is a popular alternative to Revit.
Key Differences between AutoCAD and Revit Autodesk
1. AutoCAD is like a piece of paper that you draw on anything you require. Whereas Revit looks similar
to a real building. AutoCAD allows us to represent structures and designs only in 2D. Revit has a high-
level feature that allows the designer to depict the structures in 3D. Hence AutoCAD is termed as CAD
and Revit is termed as BIM.
2. In AutoCAD, each element is drawn separately and the drawings are not interconnected with each
other. In Revit, all the designs should be done simultaneously.
