Selection Procedure For PhD Programmes
(i) Selection of PhD candidates under categories A, B, C, G & I:
A shortlisting of applications will be made by the respective departments based on the documents submitted (online) and only the short-listed candidates will be called for admission test and viva voce on the notified date. All shortlisted candidates shall appear for the admission test. There may be a further screening after the admission test for viva voce, depending upon the number of candidates.
Candidates need to mention CGPA or Percentage as awarded by their University/Institute only.
(ii) Selection of PhD candidates under categories F, H, & J:
Selection under these categories will be made directly subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria fixed by the respective departments. A shortlisting of applications will be made and only the short-listed candidates will be called for viva voce. The admission committees of the respective departments are fully responsible for selection and their decision is final in the admission process. List of selected candidates will be published on the NITD website (www.nitdgp.ac.in).
Hostel NIT Durgapur is a residential institute. Each and every full-time student will be required to reside in hostels, subject to availability of vacant seats. However, no married accommodation will be provided in the campus.
PhD Program Fees Fee structure for PhD programs is available on institute website (www.nitdgp.ac.in).
PhD Regulations The admitted scholars will be subjected to PhD Regulations-2019. Applicants are adviced to go through the Regulation available on on institute website (www.nitdgp.ac.in).

All announcements related to PhD admission will be made through the Institute website (www.nitdgp.ac.in). No communication will be made to any individual separately. Candidates are requested to visit the Institute website from time to time as required. The Institute will not be responsible in any manner if a candidate fails to visit /access the website in time. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test and/or viva voce.
The candidates must bring the printed application form, all the original documents (proof of date of birth, mark sheets and academic certificates, caste certificates, no objection certificates, sponsorship certificates, payment proof etc. as applicable) and a set of self-attested photocopiesof the same and one colour passport size photograph along with them during the admission test.
Respective departments reserve the right to cancel incomplete applications (including relevant documents).No correspondence/interim inquiries will be entertained from the candidates in connection with the process of selection/interview including reasons for not being called for interview. Canvassing in any manner would also entail disqualification of the candidature.
