INTERODUCTION

In this project power generate from the waste heat. In cement

industry the heat generating in the kiln is 1500 degree, where 200°C
is wastage so that’s why they planned to use this heat to generate the
power.
Waste Heat Recovery System is a project which are used to generate
power form the waste heat. The heat which gets wasted from the hot
streams kiln.
Name of WHRS Structure

In this project the plant is setup in the three places.

1. Turbine Generator Building.
2. AQC Boiler.
3. Preheater Boiler(ph-1,ph-2)

These are the

arrangement of the WHRS plant. Before this arrangement of plant,
we are done following works. WHRS is a project which cost is 107
crore in this plant. After chosen the area there are following works
are done by the project head. They are-
1. Measurement and levelling of area
2. Levelling process
3. Measuring of footing area
4. Marking of footing area
5. Excavation of footing area
MEASURING & LEVELLING OF PLANT AREA

Before construction of this project, the built area of project firstly

clean and level it.

LEVELLING PROCESS

Levelling is very important step of construction process. Every

construction work could not done without levelling process. It is the
base of project.
For the levelling in this place the survey is carried out by the Auto
level instrument.

An Auto Level is a Professional

Leveling tool used by contractors,
Builders, Land surveying professional
or the Engineers who demand accurate
leveling every time.
Setting the instrument is done by
hands which requires to get the bubble
within the black circle on the bubble
vial, from their it internally gets
precisely leveled.
 Advantage: easier to level, Quick
to level, Greater accuracy
Total station surveying –
Total station is a surveying instrument, combination of
electromagnetic distance measuring instrument & theodolite
(electronic). It is also integrated with the microprocessor, electronic
data collector & storage system.
It is the instrument can be used to measure
horizontal angle as well as vertical angle & slopping distance of the
instrument to the object.
In simple word it is an instrument which
measure horizontal as well as vertical angle & distance automatically
and it is electronic equipment.

Capability of Total station –

 avg. multiple angle measured
 avg. multiple distance
measured
 horizontal distance
 elevation of object
 all the coordinate of observed
point
Part of the total station instrument -

There are many parts of the total station. They are -

1. Handle
2. Handle securing screw
3. Battery cover
4. Levelling foot screw
5. Operational panel(key button)
6. Objective lens
7. Spirit level (bubble)
8. Telescope eyepiece
9. Telescope focusing ring
10. Vertical clamp
11. Vertical fine motion screw
12. Instrument center mark
13. External power source connecter
14. Horizontal clamp
15. Horizontal fine motion screw

Procedure-

 Step 1- tripod setup

 Tripod head should be approximately level.
 Head should be directly over point.
 Step 2- mount the instrument on tripod
 Place instrument on tripod.
 Secure with centering screw.

 Step 3- focus on survey point

 Focus the optical plummet on the survey point.

 Step 4- levelling the instrument

 Adjust the levelling foot screws to the center the survey point in
optical plummet.
 Center the bubble in circular level by adjusting tripod leg.
 Loose the horizontal clamp and turn instrument until plate level is
parallel.
 Center the bubble using foot screw.
 Rotate the instrument in 90 degree angle and level it.
 After that set the focusing point.

 Step5- electronically verify levelling

 Turn on the instrument.

 Click on star button.
 Select the sensor (through the selecting keys).
 Rotate 90 degree and repeat it.
Now the instrument is ready for the use. However the levelling is
completed. After that the levelling is completed, they start the
measuring and marking process
It is the most important stage of construction work. After the
process of levelling and the survey person can start the measuring &
marking work.
It is very important because a little mistake
on marking can destroy all the structure. So they tried to best and
carry correct measuring of footing which doesn’t create any barrier
for the other structure.

After measuring that can start marking. For that they used many
things chalk, oil paint etc.
Completing all the work than they can start the excavation process
for the foundation. Here the marking and pointing is done on
following ways.
 For the marking there are two way.
1. Mid to right left.
2. Corner to corner.

 For the marking the length of footing in both side of 50 cm are

added than they are marked.

EXCAVATION OF FOOTING
Excavation is a process
by cutting the soil or
rock from any working
area (ground).
IMPORTANCE OF WASTE HEAT RECOVERY
SYSTEM

There are many advantages of WHRS. They are

 This project uses the waste heat generated from kiln

 This project gives extra profit in work.
 It reduces the pollution.
 Economical Running Cost
 No Fuel Required but Waste Gas from Production Process
 Considerable Electricity Cost Saving
 Steady in Cost and Supply of Electricity

CONCLUSION

In Indian cement industry the adoption of Waste Heat

Recovery System is very useful and effective because it
generates energy from waste heat but it is also costlier
project.
