    The nurse assessed the patient's airway and respiratory status which showed signs of ineffective airway clearance after oral surgery. The nurse's objectives were to maintain a patent airway and keep the patient free from respiratory distress. Interventions included positioning, suctioning, teaching incentive spirometry and turning/coughing to clear secretions as well as nebulizer treatments. These were aimed to improve gas exchange, expand the lungs, and prevent secretions from obstructing the airway. Through these interventions, the patient's oxygen saturation improved to 98% indicating an effective evaluation.
