Some of the key takeaways are that the fall of Rome was due to multiple factors rather than a single cause, and that a lack of technological advancement and adaptation contributed to its decline.

Some major factors that contributed to the fall of Rome included a series of invasions, poor cultural development over centuries, stagnating population levels and agricultural output, and the loss of a functional government and polity.

The lack of technological advancement and adaptation negatively impacted Rome. The Romans failed to continue innovating and learning from other advancing empires. This technological stagnation weakened Rome's ability to defend itself and support its population.

Why Technology Led to the Fall of Rome

The cause of a fall of the Roman Empire cannot be confined to just one. In fact, the

topic is still debated among the historians. As for theories, there are so many to justify

the fall. The theories specify how it wasn’t one event that led to the downfall of such a

superpower. The scholars agree to the point as well and they think that a series of

factors added up to the causes, resulting in a steady decline. The historians find the

downfall of the Rome, hard to explain.

To be specific on how the technology was added to the issue, the stop of the

technological advancement. The Romans were undeniably the great engineers,

however, they did not focus their talents on producing the goods in an effective manner

to help the population (Ketton-Cremer). Some historians like the William Rosen would

say that the Romans failed to know the arch building techniques and to be honest, they

never cared. Some blame the poor cultural development for centuries that ended up in

the fall.

The lack of the adaptation to the development and not even trying to do so gave enough

space for other armies to invade the region. After the same, Justinian tried to put back

the Empire together and then the plague struck. Then, the impact was high. 30% of the

people were dying. These people were the ones who held the society together and their

death led to possibilities of other dynasties invading this place. After this incident, the

population levels and agricultural output became stagnant and for centuries, no

improvement was seen.

The technological improvements were mandatory to make the best for the population.

Other nations like the China ensured the process of learning continued. Yes, for the

Romanian citizens, the problem was more than just the adaptation. They failed to learn

anything as well while the other empires were relying on this improvement (Daley). After

the infamous Black Death things, the situations started to turn in favor to the Europeans,

which led to the inventions of many. The discoveries in the scientific method helped

them conquer the world and for almost a millennium, they conquered everything. The

fall of the empire as a whole can be understood using a simple scenario.

Let us consider the situation wherein an individual is a part of the warriors and skalds

and they have always seen only glory in the Roman Empire. Their weakness lies in the

manly activities like the reading and writing. Given the fact that the warriors are strong

and fearsome, the technological process has been a scene (Wood). The need for the

humans to look out for greater answers did not arise. The advancement in technology

was all about the futuristic thoughts. The basic needs were being fulfilled anyway. There

was a profound disdain for the weaklings who were in the front run.

In addition to these, the Visigoths played a major role in the downfall. They broke the

back of the Western part of the Empire completely. Especially, they made an impact in

the parts of Italy and totally sacked Roman. However, they weren’t really interested in

conquering the Rome itself, to be specific, they didn’t want to take it for themselves nor

did they want to take complete control of it. All they wanted was the destruction of the

Rome, so that the power that the Rome had in their side. From their point of view, the

power the Rome had has been abusing them for so long and that is the reason why

they badly wanted the Roman Empire to fall. There were many other dynasties that

seeked for the same due to the very reason. Secondly, there was a rampage and the

enormous migration added to the issues in the western regions. Between these two

issues, the large scale government was completely destroyed which made the empire

lose its basic functionality as a whole. The loss of the proper functional polity makes

sure that any given empire falls. This led to more gap.

In fact, the greater inventions and the small upgradations to the existing technologies

have been happening in the early middle ages. One of the most notable such inventions

was the windmill, however, it was known acknowledged then by the Romans. Other

than that, as we all know, the Dark Ages had a lot to contribute to the downfall. The

Romans, all they had to do was to coordinate with their growth, which they failed to do.
