Notes for Replacing Service Parts for AZ2 Series
After replacing the BAT board, Panel, you will need to upgrade Software by using the USB memory.
(Software upgrade required even if replacing the LCD Panel only.)
Before upgrading Software, ensure you disconnect all external cables.
After upgrading the version, you need to confirm the SEG, DEST, MODELNAME, SERIAL, BU_TRANS and BU_FLASH from the Service menu.
(Incorrect settings affect the set's capabilities.)
! When upgrading Software, be sure to download the most recent version.

(If the version of Software already on the repair board is newer than the version of Software for upgrade, Software will not be upgraded.)

Preparing USB for Upgrade
There is no special restriction on USB memory. If you connect the USB memory to the computer and it is recognized on the XMB, you can use it.
The USB memory can be formatted in either FAT or FAT32.

1-1. Steps After Replacing the Service Board

Note: Before operation, disconnect all cables connected to the set.
1. Replace the BAT board.
2. By using the USB memory, upgrade Software.
3. Confirm and specify the following from the Service menu:

a. Check and set Digital MENU 002 MODEL, 000 SEG.
*Operate [NVM Write (Mute + 0) each setting.
b. Check and set Digital MENU 002 MODEL, 001 DEST.
c. Check and set Digital MENU 002 MODEL, 002 MODELNAME.
d. Check and set Digital MENU 002 MODEL, 003 SERIAL.
*Operate [Decision (12/Enter/Select) after setting.
e. Set VPC MENU 000 DATA_COPY, 000 BU_TRANS.
f. Check Model_ID, Product_ID and Software Version from Digital MENU.
4. Conclude the operation.

1-3. Preparing USB for Upgrade
[Making procedure]
1. Get the tvupdate file for upgrade.
2. Extract tvupdate file. (e.g. sony_tvupdate_2011_2037_***_auth) *** may differ depending on destination.***
3. Confirm folder name. (e.g. sony_dtv0FA10A01A0A1_00000202)
4. Copy the folder under root directory of USB device.
Note: The upgrade will not be performed if the folder structure, name of the folder, or name of the file inside the folder is modified.

1-4. How to Upgrade the Version by Using USB
[Steps for upgrading the version]

1. When you turn on the set after replacing the BAT board, the green LED and amber LED may blink (Usually if no image and sound are
generated) – this is not a problem.
1.1. Insert USB for upgrade into the USB slot on the set while the set is turned on.
Note: Please power on by the power button of TV or remote commander within 5 seconds if TV goes to standby when inserting the
AC plug.
2. After inserting USB, the green LED and amber LED will blink for a while.
2.1. The set will reset about a minute later, and then the Standby LED lights and the Communication LED blinks.
Note: After replacing the BAT board, the upgrade startup screen may not be displayed. In addition, be sure not to remove USB while
it is writing.
3. After the writing is complete, the set is rebooted and the screen indicating the upgrade is complete is displayed. Remove USB from the set and
press the “Enter” button while the set is turned on.

1-5. Screens Displayed while Upgrading the Version

When the green LED and amber LED are blinking, insert USB into the set, after about 30 seconds the set is rebooted. Then, the Standby
LED lights and the Timer LED blinks. After about 3 minutes, the set is rebooted and is turned on. After a while, a completion message is
displayed.
Upgrading... Upgrade is complete.
No image or message may be displayed.
If USB is left inserted, a message like above is

displayed. If so, remove USB.

1-6. Confirming the each ID from the Service Menu

While in standby mode – Press “DISPLAY(1) -> 5ch(2) -> Vol+(3) -> POWER ON(4)” on the remote commander.
Confirm the Model ID and Product ID from the Service menu.
Note: You are advised to see the annexed paper to confirm the Model ID and Product ID.

The upgrade process is complete and unplug the AC cord
Warning Note:
*Because the ID for identifying the device is installed on the BAT board of FTV, never attempt to
mount the BAT board removed from a customer’s set onto another set. (The ID information is
used in BIV-IPTV or NDD.)
*In addition, BAT board reuse in unauthorized way is also prohibited.
When use external HDD for USB, cannot play recorded contents.
Note: In the worst case it may lead to legal action.

2-1. Steps After Replacing the Service Panel

Note: Before operation, disconnect all cables connected to the set.
1. Replace the Service Panel.
2. Confirm and change the following from the Service menu:
a. Change VPC MENU 001 DATA_BUCKUP , 000 BU_FLASH.
b. Confirm Model_ID , Product_ID , Software Version from DIGITAL menu.
3. Reset the Panel Operation Time from the Service menu.
4. Conclude the operation.

1. At the time of standby “DISPLAY -> 5ch -> Vol+ -> POWER ON” on the remote commander.
2. Press “7” -> “0” on the remote commander.
3. Confirm that the panel operation time is displayed as “00000”.
