“THE CORE-Reaction Paper”

We have just finished watching the movie named “The Core”. It’s a 2003 (initially
at 25 March 2003) movie that is directed by Jon Amiel. The movie is about the magnetic
field surrounding the earth that has suddenly stopped, which cause the birds to fall and
die. Birds uses the Earth’s magnetic field to navigate. They can see earth’s magnetic field
because they have the ability to see on it, Magnetoreception. The Geophysicist, Dr. Josh
Keyes, discovers that the unknown force has caused the planet’s inner core to stop
rotating which is the thing that we’re impressed like, how did he discover it? Serge
Leveque and Conrad Zimsky learned about the problem next to Dr. Keyes. The three
guys develop a plan with the United states government to bore into the earth’s core and
plant a series of nuclear charges at precise points to restart the core’s motion and restore
the field. Ed Brazzelton also presented his developed plans for nuclear vessels that
quickly drill through the core by high frequency pulse laser which makes us completely
amazed. The Government funds the construction for the ship that was named Virgil while
Keyes enlists the help from one of the best hackers, Theodore Donald “Rat” Finch (which
is our favorite dude), to keep the news of the potential global disaster off the Internet and
stem the worldwide panic. While the ship is on progress, they trained and practice on how
controlling the ship as a team which makes them fail more than 20 times make them sad
though. Our favorite dude, Rat, suddenly tracked those massive storms occurring on the
different parts of the world especially at Rome which is obviously on complete danger!
Well Rome is one of our favorite places especially at the Colosseum even if we have not
been there. Dark clouds appear on the sky and massive thunder and lightning hits on the
buildings and causes the building to collapse, including the colosseum.
As times goes by, finally the ship was finished! It made us excite when they finally
do the count down for the launching of the ship at Mariana Trench. When the ship was
launched, they went underwater first singing with those gigantic whales around them.
They move along that hurricane till they used the laser to melt the ocean floor that they
can go through on it. That laser really impressed us again and again because that was
so powerful and cool! I feel that the movie itself is very interesting and it is also extremely
touching as it shows how the 6 members of the team risked their lives to save everyone.
Things gets very interesting as it goes down and down to the earth. When they reached
700 miles down to the earth in 12 hours, they arrived on the place which most them of
them are black as they are viewed in the screen. Keyes found out that it is an empty
space which made them rushed to sit and buckled their seatbelt! They went through that
surface which shakes the whole ship and then they arrived to a place that was full of large
crystals! For us it looks so precious! Their ship slide on the ground until it stops because
it was trap/ being hold by a large crystal in front of it. They obviously need to cut and push
that crystal in order for their ship to move. As being planned and voted by the majority of
the ship, they need to go out from the ship and cut/slice that large crystal in front of them.
On cutting the crystal they needed oxygen! They have supplies of oxygen so they
eventually started. While cutting the crystal, one of the members noticed a lava fell from
above so he quickly informed his other members until those crystals above them collapse
and a huge amount of lava fell! They rushed at cutting the crystal but suddenly they’re out
of oxygen but Keyes sacrificed. He connect his own oxygen supply to the machine which
makes it work. But Keyes is loosing oxygen together with his breathing. Seeing Keyes
felling to the ground makes us sad because he did something sacrificial for the team. As
he’s being rescued, the crystal was finally removed and they quickly start the engine and
laser. One of the members shouted for the success they made that time but suddenly he
died because a piece of stone hit into his suit that quickly went through his head… They
continued moving down to the earth and then one of the members died. He died because
as the ship was damaged, it needs eject one of it’s parts specifically the weapon control.
They went out quickly but Serge goes back to get those devices together with that drawing
book. He quickly gives it to Keyes but he was leaved behind. Keyes tried to saved him
but it didn’t work. Actually that scene was sad because Serge is a dad that joined the
team for his family and the planet. When Keyes opened that book, We saw the drawing
of his children with the word “Dad” and a picture of his family on the other page of the
book. Keyes argued Rebecca for not stopping the process of ejecting. Hours has passed
by, Keyes moved on and worked back together with the team. As they travelled, they
found out that the nuclear that they brought is not enough to move the core. Zimsky
decided to go home instead but the majority choose plan C which is to continue the
mission. They were warned about the DESTINY which is a weapon that may saved the
earth. It’s the same of how electromagnetic field saves a heart, it neither be killed nor
saved. If destiny was deployed, their ship will be completely destroyed because of it’s
shockwave that can wipeout the whole ship. Zimsky was so mad about their decision to
choose the thing that they called “Plan C”. He argued until Ed was pissed off that made
him punch to Zimsky’s Face which made me laughed. When we were at Zimsky’s place,
we would also thought that it’s a wrong decision to continue.
As continued to travel, they’re trying to solve how the remaining weapons/devices
can possibly move the earth. Ed and Josh Keyes helped each other at solving and they’ve
done many attempts but still they failed. While they’re solving, At first Zimsky looks
suspicious to us because he’s whispering to his self and we thought he was trying to kill
them or trap them both but obviously we were wrong. We found ourself funny of why We
were thinking bad to Zimsky as if he’s a killer or traitor. Anyway, Zimsky helped and solved
their problem. We were quiet impress and he’s really a genius, not a killer.
Now our favorite dude, Rat, found out that those invisible microwaves that Josh
Keyes was talking about just found a hole. That hole makes the heat of the rays of the
sun completely enters the earth which causes the branches of the trees to fall, to kill the
fishes from the sea, to boil the water/sea, to melt and destroy the bridge with cars and to
burn your skin as if you were cooked! That was obviously scary if it happens in real life!
At the same time, Keyes requested to make the deploy of the destiny slow and Rat agreed
with no doubt. He tried to hack their system. He tried to have some access on it but it is
always denied which make him, cry. Well I didn’t expect he’ll cry because he’s a hacker
and he can do it but we found it funny when he cried because he’s eyes were cute and of
course his face but still he continued and tried again and again until he finally had an
access on it and stopped the deployment of DESTINY
Back to the ship, they came to an another problem again which needs a member
that needs to sacrifice in order to be solve. Ed has been choose to sacrifice to solve the
problem at the same time Ed agreed with no doubt. They hugged with the other members
before doing the thing, walking through a hot path and press that button. Ed successfully
did his part and then he’s burned and dead. It’s so sad to think how he would sacrifice for
his ship and the planet. After that sad scene, they eject the parts of the ship one by one
with a device/bomb in it. While ejecting those parts one by one, they went back because
their calculations of time did wrong and suddenly the whole ship shake that causes the
that heavy thing to fall and trap Keyes. Zimsky tried to help but there’s no way out. So
Zimsky say sorry to Keyes and leave him behind but suddenly the shipped just move and
made the heavy thing role that made Keyes escaped but made Zimsky trapped. Zimsky
was leaved behind instead of Keyes because they had no choice then the that part was
ejected together with Zimsky. Few minutes after it will explode and Zimsky will be burn
into ashes. Two of them are left in the ship. Keyes find a way to deploy a bigger bomb
and eject on it which makes the major mission to be complete. They thought they didn’t
have enough energy to go back but obviously every problem has a solution so they find
away out. They solved it and went back out of the crust. They waited while they are at the
deepest part of the ocean. The administration thought they were dead but the Rat found
out about the whales. Whales are singing with the ship remember. He’s also a genius of
course and that’s my dude. They have been located and rescued.Then Rat spread about
the heroism of the individuals did and he also spread about the destiny.

We have learnt that a few things after watching this movie. We learnt that we
should be always prepared before we do anything, and that is normal and fine to make
mistakes, so long as you remember them and learn from them. In the movie, the scientist
tried using a simulation device to try and see what it feels like travelling to the core of the
Earth. They have failed more than 20 times in the simulations and the result was the
destruction of the Earth. However, due to the fact that they learned from their mistakes,
they managed to eventually be successful in the final simulation.

In a nutshell, we feel that it is an extremely nice movie and we encourage people
