Quadratic Functions: LESSON

This document introduces quadratic functions in the form f(x) = ax^2 + bx + c, where a ≠ 0. It provides examples of generating tables of values for quadratic functions and writing quadratic functions in vertex form, which is f(x) = a(x - h)^2 + k.

LESSON ____: Quadratic Functions

A quadratic function is a function in the form

𝑓(𝑥) = 𝑎𝑥 2 + 𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐
Where a,b and c are real numbers and 𝑎 ≠ 0 .

Generate a table of values for each quadratic function:

1. 𝑦 = 𝑥 2
x -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3

2. 𝑦 = 𝑥 2 + 2
x -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3

3. 𝑦 = 𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 + 9
x -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3

The Vertex Form of Quadratic Function

𝑓(𝑥) = 𝑎(𝑥 − ℎ)2 + 𝑘

1. 𝑦 = 𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 + 9

2. 𝑦 = 𝑥 2 − 2𝑥 − 15

3. 𝑦 = 𝑥 2 + 2𝑥 − 8

4. 𝑦 = 𝑥 2 − 3𝑥 − 10

5. 𝑦 = 2𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 − 5
