Yes. Feedback received from the faculties is placed before the Departmental
Committee to revise the curriculum.

Students on staff – every academic year feedback is obtained by the IQAC and the
findings are communicated to the faculty individually every year. The feedback is
taken into account for confirmation/ promotion.

Madras University Chapter of Indian Plastic Institute has been started in the
Department of Polymer Science. The First Seminar on Plastics in Packaging
Industries was held on 6th August 2011. Experts from all over India delivered

The teaching methods include lectures followed by discussions, assignments, tests,
seminars, quiz and counseling.

Students are regularly participating in the Science Exhibition conducted by Science
City, Govt. of Tamil Nadu, every year.

M.Sc. Polymer Chemistry course offered in this department is unique and job
oriented. For the last four years, this department has trained-up 50 post graduates and
5 Ph.D scholars in Polymer Science. They are working in academic & research
institutions and polymer based industries.
51. Detail five major Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Challenges (SWOC)
of the department.
Strength:
· The PG Course in Polymer Chemistry and Ph.D in Polymer Science offered in this
department are job oriented and demanding in India and abroad.

Weakness:
· Less enrolment of students for P.G course.
Opportunities:

· M.Sc. students undergoing internship training at CIPET, Chennai are receiving
certificate for Plastics Processing and Testing. This certificate is additional support for
the students in getting job.
· In the future, there is a possibility for the introduction new elective courses jointly
with Polymer Products Manufacturers.

Challenges:
· Development of New polymers with attractive topology for specialty
applications

We plan to bring this department as an identified Centre in India for study and
research in Polymer Science.
