Paracetamol Elixir

SYNONYM: ACETAMINOPHEN ELIXIR

ELIXIR is a clear, sweet-flavored liquid used for medical

purposes, to be taken orally and intended to cure one's illness.

W hy is solubility data very useful?

Solubility data is very useful in preparations, which include the

sequences or a mix of each ingredient must be strictly in
accordance with the nature and solubility. If seen from the
solubility then we know that the function of glycerol and
propylenglycol is to enhance the solubility of the medicine that is
useful to maintain the stability of the drug.

Conclusion
In conclusion the purpose of this experiment is to produce a clear
flavored liquid preparation known as elixirs that is compatible to the
procedures that is learned. And to confidently recommend the used of
product that we have made which is the paracetamol elixir.
Paracetamol elixirs are used in babies and children for the treatment of
mild or moderate pain and feverishness, and also in babies who
develop fever after vaccination. The importance of elixirs are usually to
mask the unwanted taste of active ingredients, which is helpful in
administering to children.
Learning
Evaluation
What are the primary solvents of elixirs?
The primary solvents of elixirs are alcohol and water, with glycerin, sorbitol
and syrup sometimes as an additional solvent and as sweetening agent

WHAT ROLE DO GLYCERIN AND PROPYLENE GLYCOL PLAY IN ELIXIRS?

They are commonly used in Elixirs as ADJUNCTIVE SOLVENTS

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF ELIXIRS AND HOW ARE THEY PREPARED?

High Alcoholic Elixir (75% to 78% alcohol)

Low Alcoholic Elixir (8% to 10%)
Elixirs are usually prepared by simple solution with agitation and/or by
admixture of two or more liquid ingredients. Alcohol soluble and water
soluble components are generally dissolve separately in alcohol and in
purified water respectively
