How things began

Professor: Carmen Castañeda Chau


Achievement
At the end of the learning unit, the student will able to
describe important events. In addition, he will be able to
write a story related to the past making use of connectors.

Importance
Learning to communicate in English is definetely very
important. In order to do it with pertinence, it is useful to
learn the appropriate vocabulary, grammatical structures
and expressions.

for regular past simple verbs
After most verbs Add -ed walk - walked

Pronunciation Rules
for regular past simple verbs

After the sounds Pronunce the final –ed liked, laughted,


/k/, /f/, /p/, /s/, as /t/ helped, missed,
/ʃ/, /ʈʃ/ finished, watched

After the sounds Pronunce the final –ed avoided, decided,


/d/ or /t/ as /ɪd/ wanted, waited,
visited

After all other sounds Pronounce the final –ed listened, studied,
as /d/ played
Past Simple

• We use the past simple to talk about actions


that began and ended in the past.

• It is often used with past time expressions.

• We put the past time expressions at the


beginning or at the end of the sentence.
