Please refer to the attached plan of the unit (Figure 1 at the end of this document) for guidance when
performing these diagnostic tests.
1. Remove the metal casing and the top cover from the unit. Remove FUSE2, then remove FUSE1 (see
Figure 1).
2. What is the dc voltage across the POWER PACK terminals (remove the 4 pin power pack plug, then
using a multi-meter test for dc voltage between pins 3 & 4 of the plug? V dc – Replace power
pack plug when finished.
Note: If LED1 does not start to flash, press and hold the anti-tamper switch (located next to the power
pack plug) for 10 seconds and then release to initiate the diagnosis process.
4. Wait two minutes to allow the system to complete a self-diagnosis, indicated on the STATUS LED as
per below sequence. After two minutes, confirm the LED colour and tick the appropriate box below.
6. What is the dc voltage at the ’24 V IN +’ and ’24 V IN –’ terminals (refer to figure 1 for terminal
locations) ? V dc
FUSE1 Yes No
FUSE2 Yes No
FUSE3 Yes No
9. Do a visual check of the circuit board. Do any components appear to be damaged? If so, which ones?
10. Check that the black plastic connector is securely attached to the underside of the IDP-690 transceiver
and that the locking ring is tight (it will be necessary to unscrew the two Flat head screws on the base
plate to check this).
11. Check that the installation has a clear view of the satellite with no obstructions. Are there any other
communications and/or electronic installations mounted within 2 metres of the DSAS Mk2? If so, how
close are they?
12. Return this completed checklist to Pole Star Technical Support or your Pole Star distributor.
