This documentary mainly tackles about pre-marital sex and what they think of it.

Where

Filipinas and other people think that the Philippines lack sex education because the church has

control over women’s health and sex education as said in the documentary and before there

are some parties that want to implement sex education in the Academe so that the cases of

teenage pregnancy will diminish somehow. There was a quote from Michelet, “Woman is a

miracle of divine contradictions”. From what I have understood after this quote, According to

Benitez, That Filipinas are confused and misunderstood women because there was a time that

the Filipinas were taught to be timid but on the other hand, the western culture has taught us to

be modern in such a way that we are more liberal in the way we dress and look; some examples

of these contradicting attitudes for example in the Philippine Television where actresses wear

minimal clothing which shows that on one hand you’re dressing in a sexy way but on the other,

you are acting as if you are very modest and timid. This documentary pertains both on women

and the view of men towards women because there are some men who view women as an

object of pleasure and that they can do anything to them. This pertains to women because to

make them aware of what can happen if they cannot defend themselves to the ones who are

going to sexually harass them. The person who made this advocacy is one of the people who

are aware of the rising ignorance of the Filipinas and I think that the personality of the person is

concerned and curious at the same time because the person wants to spread the ideas. The

possible target audience is the Filipinas mainly teenagers and the ones who are working abroad

since they were one of the examples given in the documentary.

One of the supporting points of the thesis statement is that the Church has control over

the health and sex education of women. I think this is like the RH bill when the church is

contradicting the values of the culture because it is against “God’s will” and it is not legal and

they do not believe that it is not very effective and the people should just pro-create. We all

know that pre-marital sex is a sin but there are already many teenagers who engage to it.
Another is lack of sex education since there are more people in the minority who cannot

get a good education like other people where the school has certain topics that tackle those kind

of topics which the students will know more about pre-marital sex and Filipinas in the modern

age wouldn’t be that ignorant in that topic.

Lastly, the media has one of the very big impacts on the masses because other than

entertainment it is also informs and when the people see the sexy dances and sexy outfits on tv

and they can be imitated by the teenagers and the kids who watch those kind of tv shows

because the person who is doing or wearing that is their idol.

I agree on everything that was said on the documentary because in the generation today

more and more people especially teenagers engage in PMS and they should be more aware on

the things that can happen if they would engage in those kinds of action. I wouldn’t omit any

phrases because everything is very informative and students/teenagers like me can learn a lot

of things that we can imply in the future.

To sum it all up, I think the video should be spread virally to make Filipinas more aware

of what can happen if they are ignorant about the things that can happen it is also said in the

video that “Ignorance is not an excuse” this is right because if they say that they are ignorant the

people would just say that it is not an excuse since they should have known better and they

should know the right from wrong since they can reason out already. It also encourages that the

Filipinas should be the ones who would be in charge of their own lives and they should protect

themselves from any danger that they would be in. The speaker just wants the people to be

more aware of the situation of some Filipinas.
